You can get that rust off the chrome with aluminum foil. Some wd-40 and it comes right off

i thought you did already when you said you moved them and the chain moved, so do what you did before but while pedaling

or do you mean like where do i put my hands while shifting ?

Left shifter usually adjusts the front derailleur to pedal easier on massive terrain changes like the incline you just faced. The right shifter moves the chain on the smaller cogs and is usually for tweaking during slight terrain changes or whatever effort level that feels good when you're cycling. It's for fine tuning basically.

You can use both shifters to find the gear that feels best for you. Just remember that the chain performs optimally when it is in a straight line so be mindful of your gear shifts.

just play around with em while pedalling on some flat ground, i haven't ridden a bike like that in a long ass time, you'll figure out instinctively, what moving the shifters (those little levers) each way moves em to what gear @op

yeah was gonna mention cross-chaining, (when the chain goes diagonally @op) but idk if the bike even has enough gears for that to be an issue

ight so I’ve been practicing on uphill, downhill, and flat land and I think I understand it now

when you hit a hill, shift the left gear and it moves the front chain on to the smaller socket, then shift the right gear while still pedaling and it moves the back of the chain on to a larger socket
i just hit this hill, bike started getting jittery, shifted the left one then shifted the right one and the bike went right into smooth mode for the hill, reached flat land, shifted the left and then shifted the right and the bike went back to a more firm chain on the flat land

my niggas @Beach_kneega @p_p just needed to updated ya’ll…we are biking thanks to your advices
