Just watched A beautiful Day in the Neighborhood

  • I really enjoyed it and love the direction they went instead of making it a typical biopic. My only issue is they really promoted this as if it was a Tom Hanks film, when really he’s a supporting actor. They even put his name first in the credits instead of Matthew Rhys. I feel like that’s a disservice to Matthew especially when during the Oscars they had Tom Hanks in the supporting actor category. It seems like they wanted to showcase Tom as the lead strictly because he’s Tom Hanks.

    They didn’t even put Matthew’s name on the official cover

    yeah I agree, this movie was really about Matthew's charcter dealing with his own s***, and the Mister Rogers stuff was just a plot device

    also, have you seen the "Won't you be my neighbour" documentary that came out the year before this? I liked it a lot better

    No I need to. I heard it’s really great.

    But yeah I liked the movie but didn’t think it needed to be promoted as a Mr. Rogers/Tom Hanks movie

    agreed was surprised cause I'm not a huge fan of docs but used my AMC pass and wasn't disappointed
