It’s odd to me just how much of the Whedon JL is inspired by The Avengers. There’s nothing wrong with inspiration but I’m just surprised by how obvious it is:

    • a newly assembled hero team needs to retrieve a cubed McGuffin
    • a horned extraterrestrial villain with a staff weapon is sent to Earth by a godly tyrant to retrieve the cubed McGuffin
    • said villain has history with the ancient god member of the hero team
    • slow build up to the emergence of the ‘big gun’ of the hero group, who first fights the team, leaves, then returns to help the team fight the villain and their faceless alien army in the third act

It was Whedon also stroking his ego, he tried to redeem himself in a way after Ultron, and brought that Buffy bullshit on the set of Justice League.

    I actually get this tbh

When it released it got more praise because it had never been done to this level before. I think it got a lot more lax criticism because of that.

This. Idk how he got the interactions/dialogue and plot structure and general superhero stuff so right in The Avengers but so wrong in JL

Anyone who's still calling other people nerds for enjoying something is dusty tbh. Everyone is a nerd now.
