Well honestly yeah. Stories like Dark Knight returns, death of superman, kingdom come etc don't even work without fleshing out the characters before their drastic shift. That's why evil superman is a cool scene in bvs but without the build up of him being good then who cares?
Superman the animated series built him up and you saw the story of him as a person and all the people he influenced and waited until the 2nd to last episode to do the whole darkseid brainwash s***. Then you saw how those relationships were effected.
Even in JLU it carried over and one of his long friends were afraid of him. And if you skip that then it doesn't feel the same. Same goes with Edge Lord Returns and Wonder Woman killing maxwell lord. You don't need 10 movies to set it up but we at least gotta see development and them kinda idealized. Zack had superman introduced to the world during this huge event as a rookie which is cool. Then gives him almost zero lines and kills him off in the next movie a year and a half after saving the world from zod.

good comeback i dont kno how to respond lol yeah zacks superman could have benefited a lot with a stand alone sequel before bvs but idc that trilogy perfect to me anyways i have no complaints besides the story not getting finished
