I keep seeing stupid ass tweets like this. Has this been a narrative or did it only start recently?
My first time seeing it personally
Some of Jays best rapping is on Black Album, Reasonable Doubt and American Gangster though.
that account is run by a person who was like 5 when blueprint came out lol
who cares
This has been a narrative for years but moreso as we go into post Grad Bp3/WTT era he refreshed Hov aesthetic and brand
Its a reach to say he did this in Blueprint era where Hov could have worked with anyone and it would have still been Jay Z after the 96-99 run with Def Jam behind him in 2001 lol. Ye did start the palette for Blueprint tho
Jay would’ve still made history as one of the the GOATS. He gave Kanye a chance to shine, without the Jay co-sign, Kanye would’ve signed with Columbia or whatever, and been boxed in as a “backpacker”.
And promoted as such
I have seen it be said that Ye saved Twistas career though lol. Not sure if there’s validity to that,
But I think this Jay Z narrative is definitely new
I swear y'all look for s*** to be angry about
Isn't that how the heart keeps on beating?
If anybody did it sure wasn’t Kanye
Beyoncé helped Jay crossover more than anything. Bro pulled the baddest (black)woman on the planet, also one of the most recognizable/known singers on the planet as well. Opened up a whole other demographic for Jay.
Beyoncé helped Jay become a true celebrity tbh.
This is all also just a genesis of the “jay was never the biggest rapper in any given year” thing which over time has just morphed into this jay was a local rapper til kanye showed up fantasy

Ye starting the “palette” for the blueprint is arguable
Bink was also chopping up soul at the time. Both accused Just Blaze of copying them

Dame gave him a chance*
first I'm seeing it. saved is an insane word to use but Kanye did have a massive influence on hov's career
A lot of Kanye stans don't listen to much hip-hop outside of his discography, so they develop a warped view of the history of rap that centres solely around Kanye. Not saying it's true of the guy in OP specifically, but that's where this narrative originated from

I’m more so mind blown that people actually think this
