I know every community has an org that can organize protest but its also again as I have mentioned before as someone who has covered these protest and picked people up from the police station only so effective
Police beat kids teens and adults here in Chicago for walking in circles and charged them with felony mob action. Put them in Jail for 24 hours or more sometimes. For walking in circles or chanting.
They raised the bridges here in Chicago to protect the wealthy class from others.
Things that got the most reaction from police and change in Chicago had nothing to do with BLM
Organized looting, attempting to tear the columbus statue down.
The way we protest has to change because in the camera lens the media is going to demonize us either way.
BLM as an organization AND as a slogan doesnt do enough. Matter is the bare minimum so of course when the slogan was coined and marketed other races were going to say "wait we matter too"
Yes I know white lives matter was coined more reactionary and often utilized by racist but Asian lives Matter wasn't and other instances. There are white victims of police brutality as well. Yes I know lower numbers but they exist. Point being when you are making a slogan or organnization yes we do suffer intensely in america and the world but you want to bring people together
They make us all into statistics, black ink, obituaries especially in covid era. Be it sanctions, war, police brutality, poverty, homelessness. Any time a group of white men feel they must face their privilege in anyway shape or form this cycle is inevitable
And this has always been known. Minority means underprivileged and underserved. Yes,other races face plights as well but in American history,black people have been facing an uphill since slavery. BLM is just another one of those battles,one that has to be questioned by other races even though black history and statistics is right in front of them.
To say WLM or even Asian Lives Matter,is simply ignoring American history,also black history,to diminish the real conversation. When Ye is talking about fighting against the white establishment,he's talking about a white,lily flower man like Bernard Arnault. Everyday people of color have to fight against the cops,their boss,they have to that strange guy on the street.
BLM as a phrase,really can't be flipped because its addressing the mistreatment of black people throughout American history. WLM or any other flip on the notion is a trivial response,only meant to devalue the true meaning BLM.
