A lot of s*** is performative at its core. In the case of the shirt when I covered protest I saw many opportunist selling shirts who weren't even black or who didn't really give a f*** about the cause. Even if they were black or it was official BLM the money goes to an organization that doesn't truly help the community even in the local chapter here.
So people can say well "its not about the organization its about the movement" but the "movement" didn't need to exist and only went world wide and so covered by the media because it was bait it was inevitable that someone would take the basic phrase or slogan of black lives matter and flip it as if only black lives mattered same way some people dont realize feminism is about equality.
American media likes topics and actions that make people argue in cycles often over a binary. NRA and mass shootings is the same way. Paints a good guys and bad guys when its all more complicated than that.Defund the police as a slogan too. simplifying really important ideas doesn't help us and often commericalizes them. Same as eat the rich when even if you tax the rich to smithereens IT DOESNT MATTER IF YOU SPEND ALL THAT MONEY ON WAR.

Who is “y’all”? I’ve never said I was off him before. I’ve been disappointed in a few of his antics in the past but I’ve been a Ye defender for years.
