his trump stuff always got me confused considering his public donations have for been for democrats and left-leaning causes

He supports him as him getting elected has paved way for him to be elected one day. If that celeb can be elected, then Ye can be too. I guess he also likes the facade Trump has put up about his image of America 1st and a strong man, which Ye isn't able to see through.
Not to mention, he probably just did this to get out of that place. Escalate the situation to escape it.
