Twin Peaks season 3 is legitimately unlike anything else ever put on television, I'm not exaggerating at all, one episode had a cinematic technique that I'd legit never seen before, it's completely it's own thing to the extent that it's hard to compare it to other shows

yes he quit when the network forced him to reveal Laura's killer

then the show was cancelled and he came back to do the last few episodes

Oh it gets really good! That stuff is all good too because of the very very VERY amazing dynamic between Saul and his brother. Which is tragic and emotional and makes you angry and makes you empathetic all in one

But it’s when it eventually starts melting into to the crime, cartel, gus fring side that it gets great too. Definitely try more of it

About why El Camino was made so late, I think because maybe they saw interest to BCS, and it filled them with confidence that they can go one step further in the original show.
Also I saw this movie as a sort of Vince Gilligan first step in the non-series world, and many of tricks looked organic in the BB universe, the effect would be different if he shot something completely different but still with those montages etc.

Those signature weird camera angles and shot set ups were definitely still there

And they’re still in better call Saul too

Yeah, SPOILERS FOR TWIN PEAKS SEASON 3 but it's the part where the woodsmen emerge from the gas station and the footage and audio cut in and out so it feels like they're "forcing" their way into our world I've never seen anything like that, it's like Lynch just instinctively figured out a way to depict something incredibly complex like that, he also hand-edited a good part of that episode himself, maybe the greatest episode of anything ever IMO
