Honestly don’t think listening parties have any correlation to album being released bc that’s the track record. For all we know the performance concept for the Chicago listening party could be more important to Kanye than the album content rn. Putting together merch, a concept, design, schedule, etc probably takes a lot of time compared to mixing an album or finishing a verse. For all we know the album could release ahead of the Chicago listening party. The listening parties have proven to be about as much as performance art as actually listening to the album. So basically who knows….

Will the Chicago merch be GD themed again?

This is big!

I know everybody skeptical about the album actually being turned in on time, but I think a lot of signs point to that being the case (Kanye left the stadium, reports of it being mixed). Part of this is that I also truly, foolishly believe that everyone involved (Kanye, Apple, Def Jam) understands the hype behind this thing and is interested in rebuilding that hype up until the listening party. I think everybody recognizes that this could be a monstrous first week of sales.

What's most exciting is that, if any of this is true, it seems like the plan is really allowing them to take their time with the mixing/mastering. For all the f***headedness of this rollout, he's perhaps going by the book in other ways.
