The album starts off in complete darkness,
Slowly climbs out of it,
And reaches the light.
This theme of darkness-to-light can be transposed onto different subjects touched upon throughout the album:
•Going to jail, and getting out (Mass incarceration)
•Divorce, and getting back on your feet (Kim)
•Death of a loved one, and letting go (Donda)
•Going to hell, and climbing out (Spirituality)
But most of all, this album is about…
Redemption.
I never want to hear that Donda doesn’t mean anything or the sequencing doesn’t make sense ever again.

It's a well thought out theme that gets brought up on almost every track on here. Even songs like Junya that feel pretty unrelated have some relevance - like Kanye saying "I made a promise" on Junya and then later elaborating on Jesus Lord that the promise was "to never let the reaper in."
I think this album is very specifically about Kanye trying to overcome the guilt he feels for the death of his mother, something that's kept him imprisoned for almost 15 years now. Only by finding God and feeling renewed through his faith is he finally able to feel that pain and hate he has for himself disappear.
I Know Balls Breathed On This
you might not have been the only one that could'a did that
but you were the one that DID do that

it's worth noting scorpion's second day drop was -25% compared to CLB's -44%. if you wanna compare to some other albums that debuted with 25m+ streams, here you go:
Certified Lover Boy - 44.5m (-44%)
The Off-Season - 22.3 million (-42%)
KOD - 20.9 million (-42%)
evermore - 22.2 million (-41%)
Beerbongs & Bentleys - 30 million (-39%)
folklore - 27 million (-39%)
Legends Never Die - 30.7 million (-36%)
Astroworld - 26 million (-36%)
Man on the Moon III: The Chosen - 16.5 million (-35%)
Lover - 19.2 million (-32%)
Hollywood's Bleeding - 29.2 million (-26%)
Scorpion - 60.6 million (-25%)
Tha Carter V - 36.1 million (-23%)
thank u, next - 25.8 million (-21%)
i wouldn't say it's a great look all things considered, it doesn't bode well for the album meeting these projections.
