I got Shield a couple years back & was disappointed with it
Get it for sure
They basically took the wild area and made an entire game of it and set it in ancient Sinnoh when pokeballs had just been invented and you can walk out of the village and get murked by a Shinx
Then they went ahead and completely overhauled both catching and battling and made both arguably more fun and objectively less tedious than ever and completely reinvigorated the entire game structure to be less repetitive, less predictable, and way more replayable
Graphics could be better, yes. There are some downsides like agile/strong style being kind of wack and losing abilities and making the turn-based system a bit more frustrating until you get tbe hang of it. And I do wish there were more trainers and s*** to battle. But all told it’s the most fun I’ve had with a Pokémon game in years

that being said
they do the open world thing pretty well in terms of making it feel like pokemon actually live there
i really like that aspect of it

Tubigi never had any nintendos growing up. i played pokemon fire on my friends gameboy for a bit it was fun. played ruby red on emulator on an android phone for a little bit. but shield was actually the first one i ever owned and i had a lot of fun
but this new ones crazy. like i've caught 189 pokemon i'm goin to fill out the pokedex. keeps me playing
