The thing is that it wasn't a Russian that broke the story but Ameer Sudan. Billboard only talked to a Russian involved to confirm the details of the story. Ye's rep was just saving face and didn't know the actual details of the story

its kind of different though because he literally asked people to buy a physical product to get donda 2, and has said absolutely nothing after the fact
plus he was intentionally doing a radio silence gimmick during D1 i think
