Some people just clearly aren’t listening and can’t give credit where it’s due. This is late or middle period Kanye depending on how you look at it. They need to look at other great artists’ careers for context. David Bowie had a slump of sorts but he was just working through things. It’s impossible to maintain MBDTF levels of greatness forever, then you just start experimenting and making different music. I love the stuff he’s making now (besides D2) but if people don’t, they just need to know he’ll circle back around to making objectively greatest of all time music soon like David Bowie did with Blackstar. and i’m realizing this looks like a copypasta

its bc Ye is a victim of his previous music's almost undeniable greatness, the bar is simply too high. Drake only escapes this kind of criticism bc he's still just as hot as when he first started dominating the game if not bigger. Part of Drake's appeal now is that he's ubiquitous, he's the face of the genre of rap. If Drake were to fall off commercially there would be wider criticism of his music bc his slaps aren't being played everywhere.
