Na, he's what? in his 40's? theres still plenty of time for him to correct course, but it's going to take a lot of work (him somehow seeing he needs helo, repenting socially for the pain he's caused, and finding people who genuinely care about him & him returning it rather than being selfish). It's easy to look now & say, "Yeah, that aint gonna happen," but you just have to let life play out & see.

So much of it, imo, is exactly what he said, "hurt people hurt people". It doesnt justify it at all, and it's absolutely repulsive that people do it, but that's a lot of what it is. Deep down, he probably realizes that everyone that has loved him on such a level - is gone (friends, family, spouse, etc), so for a while it's just been a time of, "what else do I stand to lose?"
