The fact you love it should automatically make this album a 8 at least lmao. I wasn't sure about how to feel about this at first, first listen was really weird tbh, felt really different from everything he released up to this point. Album is quickly growing on me heavily tho, keep coming back to it. The production and the melodies in here are reminiscent of 808s Imo, and even if the lyrics aren't great (as to be expected) they're mostly heartfelt and heavy hitting in some istances. I have some issues with it(mainly mixing, Jesus is Lord ending abruptly and transition to Kenny g sax solo) but I'm sure I'm gonna love it a lot in a couple months after the hype dies down. Least favorite track as of now is everything we need Imo, and even if water almost got ruined by ye's lackluster delivery, Ant's and choir's performances plus the amazing beat are too good to make it the worst track. As of now its my least favorite of his solo albums, but I'm sure it will grow on me in the following months

lmao, I would probably go with an 8... But yeah I love it, I'll always be a fan of Kanye even if he's dropping mid or even bad music but I didn't think this album would make me a fan of current Ye like this and it has. Top 5 album for me this year, although not top 3. I could change my mind but I tend to stick to my Ye album opinions, outside of TLOP which was a grower.

Definitely picking up on the 808s on some songs, which I think is a good thing. Combined with the gospel, it gives it an almost singer-songwriter backed by choir feel which I think really suits him moving into a new era of his career.

The lyrics aren't blowing me away, but they also don't get away. They aren't bad and where they are good they add to the songs. Also, they all help the songs. They all show just how much intent and focus he has with this album, which imo makes it all the more powerful. He's not expanding and making a layered, insightful commentary for the majority of the album like he might have tried to in the past but at the same time, the lyrics feel like they're portraying something that is meaningful and that actually has substance. This album is a praise album and to respect the lyrics, you have to respect that. He's not going to be trying to twist it to re-adapt gospel like he did on songs like Jesus Walks or Only One. it's pure worship but I think that focus makes the album better, not worse. In a way throwing in a NMPILA-type verse, as much as it would make me happy, would cheapen what the album is going for.

I also think it's impressive that he's still finding ways to make albums that hold their own against his discography this far in. It might not be as good as TCD, MBDTF, 808s etc. but it's something else entirely so it's a worthy addition. That's a real special talent to still be adding to your body of work in that kind of meaningful way. This album makes him one of the most exciting artists in hip hop again for me after a shaky 2018.

Outside the mixing, I enjoy this a lot.

Its nice to have some insight into Ye's mind being a recent convert.

Love the themes, Few really good verses on here too.

Disliked his vocals originally on "God Is" but honestly it seems like he's really trying and I can't help but love the emotion in his voice.

    Overall I'm content, 7/10 atm.

    You?

yea im prolly sitting at 6-7/10, honestly hurts to think of the potential this has but at the end of the day i still feels it’s good in it’s current form

I had to log into my niggas account just because the registration s*** was f***ed up but I just wanted to say I've been coming to this forum through the entire JIK album process just lurking. I want to say that since the album has dropped I have never seen a more entitled group of talentless pricks in my entire existence. Who the f*** do y'all even think y'all are? You sit behind a computer screen and judge a nigga who has more classic albums than y'all do reasons to even live. Thinking your opinion of what versions of what songs should go where and how the album should start and when it should finish and subject matter this album artwork that. What a group of f***ing entitled lame ass losers. And to think this is on a forum made exclusively to celebrate and support a man. Y'all are f***ing idiots. The album hasn't even been out for 4 hours and you're talking about the mans passion for art is gone. Shut the f*** up you f***ing lame ass niggas and go process the album away from your f***ing phone and computer screens. 2019 ass minds, don't even know how to shut the f*** up and stop judging something for 24 hours without tainting you and everyone around you's experience. Ashamed as a Kanye fan to see that I'm in the company as some of you. JIK, 10/10. When these lyrics are resonating with the same plight and battles you're dealing with, the album means a little bit more to you than "The lyrics are trash". One day y'alls balls will drop and you'll understand what creative expression truly means. Good afternoon
