On Metacritic right now this only has a 57 based off of 5 reviews (2 positive, 3 mixed), but there have been more than 5 reviews for it so I’m not sure why they haven’t been factored into the score yet.

Really interested to see what Fantano gives this because he’s been against the grain with Kanye’s last 3 projects at the time of their release (gave TLOP & ye 8/10s and gave KSG a perfect score), and he’s already uploaded a track review for Selah and was super positive about it.

I mean obviously he wasn’t gonna give it a 10/10 but that doesn’t mean it’s gonna be super low either. Think he just said that because the last Kanye related project he reviewed (KSG) he gave a 10/10.
Unlike most YouTube album reviewers, I’m pretty sure Fantano listens to an album multiple times in multiple different settings before reviewing it, and JIK is definitely an album that grows on you with multiple listens, so I can see him giving it something like a 6 or 7

I can almost kinda sorta get the criticism that the album is too thematically surface level but at the same time, if Kanye delved into the intricacies and deeper cuts of Christianity/religion a larger crowd would be complaining because they wouldn't be able to follow what he was saying.

Also that was never the purpose of this so like yeah.
