The sad truth is that his artistic apex where most of us truly fell in love wit him is when he kinda lost his true self and fell into the character Coodie referenced when he said Ye didn’t want people to see the real him yet lol when the doc was supposed to be some Hoop Dreams type s*** that finished when he blew up. Even as far back as the beginnings of it LR era when doc was supposed to be put together but definitely 08-09 and beyond till modern day.

I do think Kanye became interested and struggled through some things that his old niggas wouldn't have completely understood, but being as dismissive of them as it seems he has been (outside and inside this doc) certainly wouldn't help I imagine

idk I hate turning what was and is a good doc into an old Kanye vs new Kanye thinkpiece lmao. I'm glad there's some happy moments within ep 3 at least, even with how much f***ery has occurred in the post Roc-a-Fella Ye, dude still has had more great moments than 99.9% of the population

The editing in the third part doesn’t help but Kanye is so awkward to see converse on a “normal level”

I’m watching this for the first time and I’m in episode 3 and I swear the filmmaker is turning it into a doc about his own daughter for some reason

his daughter was in it for like 2 mins bro

it’s important to understand while watching that this doc isn’t just about Ye and his rise to fame. it’s about Ye and Coodie’s relationship and the ups and downs of their friendship throughout their years. so Coodie talking about his life in between is sort of necessary to show the differences in where they both are from when they started

True I guess I am just not a fan of the documentary filmmaker making it partially about himself. I don’t want to watch a doc about the guy making the doc

I agree but I believe it was mainly to fill in the gap of the time that Coodie was absent for. That's also why I think episode 3 is the weakest of the 3 because unfortunately Coodie wasn't around during that time
