The NFTs have risen to tens of thousands of dollars and holders receive thousands of dollars in airdrops on a pretty regular basis. Obviously that can come crashing down at some point but when you truly build a culture around a project it gets closer to any other collectible.
Ye has already been doing this his whole career but I don't trust him/people around him to overcome the greed and allow this to actually grow into something.
