idk why he keeps saying things without action maybe just to test the waters on the response... but should just wait for 2024 biden will be easily beatable in 4 years

i feel like biden won't be a two term president and will try to pass the torch to his vp

Biden was losing every state until black people got to vote. The Dems were fine with Pete winning. Or Kamala. Or Booker. Maybe not Sanders but I can understand that. It's obvious from your username where your feelings lie there so I'm not even going to bother. He's a s***ty candidate and he lost like s***ty candidates tend to do.

Tbh it sounds like you’re one of the people that likes to blame black people for Bernie losing

I’m not a Bernie supporter, my first name on ktt was Bernie Xanders cause I was 15 and thought it was funny.

I just think democrats pick a candidate they want to win, then go over to black voters and say “okay n*ggers! this is who we want u to vote for this election! don’t screw it up this time!” I’m not saying this is the case with every black voter, but there are definitely a lot that just do what they’re told

  • Yeah it was obvious lol

He will defo go for 2024 like he's said in the past

he lost for lots of overlapping reasons imo, many of them his fault.

but he's the most successful candidate of his type ever, so he still achieved a lot despite ultimately failing. i think he had a lot more to offer than a 'shitty candidate'. Mayor Pete was technically a 'perfect candidate' but he brought so little to the conversation

there's a few core reasons why black people didn't go bernie

and one of them are stupidity lool. i disagree with the reasons i think were behind it but it logically makes sense

He’s right. A lot of black people just vote blue just because. Just like a lot of white people vote red just because

I’m black. I watched my aunt support Biden because “he has the best chance of keeping Trump from getting re-elected”. My parents aren’t that way though, which is why I said “I’m not saying this is the case with every black voter”

If that’s what you wanna turn this into tho imma just keep it pushing lmao

I mean, I voted for him in 16 and generally agree with his policies (voted for Warren over him this time basically because after Trump I’m over populism) but when it comes to actual politicking and coalition building and just generally playing the game he’s really f***ing s***ty at it.

It just sounds like you’re saying the majority of black people vote for who their told without thinking for themselves

And Biden does have the best chance to beat Trump. That’s a legitimate reason to prefer him. He’s polling better than Trump amongst seniors, a group that’s usually overwhelmingly conservative

I think that’s the case. Not a majority, but enough for it to be notable

It’s not a wild thing to think that there are people who don’t think for themselves. Just go on Twitter, or even right here in the ktt2 music section

Those are the ones who felt like they “have to vote for the candidates you choose” that’s what he just said

In South Carolina Biden got 3/4 of the black vote over Bernie. Black ppl gotta hold this L that is a terrible terrible look

i mean he managed to outperform a lot of other expectations the first time. at least he helped shift common sense on some positions within the party

he didn't reach out to people to get endorsements or whatever if that's what you mean. he was still riling against the party establishment when he was on that pre-south carolina run and that really was because of populism. i get being over populism. but if populism is medium we have to operate in then i'll go with the candidate with best policy platform regardless. there's a lot of people who think populist candidates are inevitable. if biden wins tho then maybe that consensus will start shifting.

Warren is more constructive with how she interacts with the party. i feel like she would have had less chance than bernie at beating trump tho. taking all things into account. there was a moment where it looked like bernie was going to ask her be treasury and possibly vp at the same time, they would have made a great team.

there's lots of flaws in his campaign. maybe he should have explicitly talked about black issues, which he never did. i understand why but i think that pissed off black voters exaggerating the effects of a bad night in South Carolina more. Bernie didn't ask for Clyburn's endorsement. he wouldn't have got it but who knows if he could have caused a delay. it's things like that i can see are frustrating. He never really used the compelling personal story he has. other candidates like biden used theirs, so should he have done that despite it not being natural to him?

at the end of the day we won't see bernie's full legacy until we see who the next dem nom is (if somebody can take that coalition of under 50s/latino voters) and if the faction he's helped build can shift the policy of a biden whitehouse

Lol I’m from Illinois but I go to Clemson but I agree haha. It’s not just South Carolina though this is just speculation but it’s just such a bad look cause I think a lot of black ppl voted for Biden over Bernie purely cause of Biden’s proxy to Obama it’s f***ed

don't you think it could have also been things like bernie not explicitly talking to black people about black issues in the same way other candidates did or not trying to hold off clyburn for a bit longer?

i understand why bernie didn't wanna do that from a macro perspective but it might have hurt his opportunity to show he was there for black voters

the obama connection definitely helped. some of biden's other relationships and you don't have to go as far wouldn't look as good tho. but obviously that never became a focus
