I mean if you read any pre-WWII (or even stuff in the 20 years post-WWII) British literature, it tends to be genuinely unbelievably antisemitic.

Americans have an understanding of British anti-Romani sentiment, but the culture was extremely anti-semitic for a long time in a way that they seem to have largely been able to wash their hands of.

The way people on the internet speak about Kanye (I.E., can you ever discard the label of "anti-semite" after you've made and apologized for anti-semitic statements) is the way I feel about English Literature, broadly speaking.
