e tA lot of people, even on here, have had the opinion that he’s fake and only apologizing so he can make money again, and should have waited before touring again.
So then saying “apologize when you don’t have your earnings linked to it” isn’t that crazy
I don’t agree with it because of the bipolar treatment and him being clearly driven by mania before, but otherwise
This only holds if you view performance and artistic expression through a purely transactional capitalist lens, where everything is reduced to money and consumer approval
It turns repentance into a purity test: the person must not only apologise and change, but also step away from their own medium of expression for a socially approved period so their apology can be seen as sufficiently unprofitable to count as sincere
it’s not rehabilitation it's ritualised punishment rooted in capitalism
