Prior to 808s & Heartbreak, the only officially credited co-writer is Che Smith (Rhymefest) who co-wrote on Jesus Walks. There is no confirmation on it, but based on how co-writers during this time have talked about Ye's writing, their contribution was specific bars that fill out Ye's verses, as opposed to writing full verses for Ye to recite.

After 808s Kanye began providing detailed credits for tracks on his album, and here's a breakdown of those albums and their co-writers.

Is this to shut down people making ghost writer claims from the Drake camp? If so, good work OP

  • I know Kanye literally gives you credit for just being around but this proves why the songwriting has gone to s*** lately cause he doesn’t even attempt to do much by himself since Yeezus lol it’s like Desiigner had said before, he’s not really as hands on in making his albums like he used to

Great verses, I imagine Rhymefest gave him a couple bars but Ye was writing writing on Twisted Fantasy
I think Malik's contributions were to hooks too, I know for sure one was All of the Lights

I was gonna make this thread a while back. Kanye not writing his raps/music has become massively overblown by haters.

This man almost entirely wrote AND produced the college dropout and we’re gonna act like he can’t rap?

He had more writing help on College Dropout than Twisted Fantasy

Cons was Ye's right hand men for writing raps on his first three albums, he wasn't writing verses for Ye but he probably contributed on like half the tracks be it a bar or a few

He didn't have a Cons or CyHi working with him closely for Twisted Fantasy to correct his verses or contribute bars on multiple tracks

Malik Yusef is the closest thing on it but he's more a poet than a rapper
