Say what you want about Kanye but his heart is always in the right place. Prison reform, equality, family, giving back to the community. I feel like we’re just at the beginning of what he’s going to achieve. It’s way more than music and fashion at this point. I feel like he’s going to go down in history as one of the greatest thought leaders of this century.

R kelly was the greatest modern RnB artist and now he’s known as the dude who messes with kids.

Kanye although isn’t doing wrong logically or morally, is tip toeing a danger line where his politics may overshadow his creative outputs

My point is, Kanye and politics is nothing like R Kelly's pedophilia. A closer comparison might be Ali and his controversial political stances. He is still remembered as a legend

EDIT: To clarify, I am not saying Ali and Kanye are on the same level at all

Kanye albums still go number 1. As much as people dislike him now Twitter always goes crazy whenever he drops a song.

Nobody in their damn mind even admits to listening to R Kelly songs anymore. If R Kelly dropped an album today nobody would hear that s***

People now act like that Ali was always well-liked and a revolutionary but he was one of the most hated men in America during his time. Who knows how Kanye will be remembered in 50 years.

A lot of Kanye's legacy will depend on what he does from now on. If he actually implements his plans to change the world through domes and eco-friendly cities and stuff, then people will ultimately brush aside the brief period of time in which he supported Trump. But if he just continues to spout ultra-religious propaganda with no end goal then he'll be remembered as a selfish dude who didn't use his massive platform to help others

one of the greatest thought leaders? no
one of the greatest public figures? quite easily

at this point he's matched by few if any at forcing damn near an entire country (and a lot of the world) to have an opinion about him or cover/think about what he does.

the classics won't go away, the shoes and impact won't go away, and he's still going and branching out. he has a ridiculously amazing legacy that even he can't try to stop. not even the major moments of hate and missteps he makes harms him really, they'll only add to this rollercoaster story that's only 2 decades in now.

  • Aug 16, 2020

Half the people that hate Kanye also love him at the same time so I would say yes

the difference is, ali’s political views were controversial against the oppressor and he championed for the oppressed.

fighting for others made him look righteous and powerful which somewhat mirrored his skill in the ring.

he had the money and the power he didn’t have to speak up about racism.

you are severely overestimating kanye’s influence on the wider public.

to many people, he has only one or two absolute classic album. people barely associate kanye with his shoes.

it’s more in line to say they’d see more of the failures of weird clothing by him than the success of his shoes.

everything he’s doing now will eventually add to his final legacy being “religious cult billionaire”.

Ahh yess surely a billion dollar company which has huge impact on sneaker culture and widely recognizable designs aren’t being associated with Kanye

And cmon I’m not even gonna waste the energy typing a response to what you said about the music

This whole posts reads like someone who just found out about Kanye West 2 years ago. His legacy was secured before all of this. After 20 years if you think Ye’s only gonna be remembered for being a religious cult billionaire then I actually don’t know what to say. That’s gotta be a troll

you’re being ignorant. once again, severely underestimating kanye’s impact especially when it comes to the music.

maybe it’s because you’re on ktt2 that you don’t understand this but outside of this site, outside of people who listen to music heavily kanye does not have 10 classics, he doesn’t have 5 classics.

his first 4 albums will always remain his best. 1 or 2 will be his greatest work whereas the others will be very good albums. for many people especially because these albums are the ones people have likely listened to in their entirety.

having a billionaire company doesn’t guarantee you as being remembered as a great person lol.

You’re talking about peak casuals which is understandable. Casuals don’t even think about what’s a “classic” anyways. But even then, There’s still a wide variety of major hits over 6-7 albums to the point where the impact is still monstrous. That’s fine go with your 2 classics I didn’t respond to that for a reason lmfaooooooo. Even people I’ve spoken too who don’t bump Ye know his 5th is considered his best just quit that point man. Taylor stans who don’t know s*** about Ye do reaction video to that album cus that’s what they know first

But you’re not even being realistic about Ye even compared to other musicians. It’s like somehow you’re skipping 21 Grammys, 9 #1, classic moments, performances and hits that still get plays today. Like you’re not even speaking like a music fan idk if you’re a casual yourself but he’s already etched deeply in music history and will not be as muc with fashion but enough where people knew that time Yeezy were popping. Like are you arguing he’s not even up there with his legend peers? 30-40 years later we remember everyone but him?

I never mentioned being a great person anywhere in my posts. He’s a pop culture icon that pretty much can’t be forgotten because of the moments he’s attached too and being one of the highlights of his generation. I can tell you aren’t serious cus you never brought a single fact in 2 long posts now. Telling me you’re opinion of what casuals only care about doesn’t really mean much here. When those hits come on at the club, everyone knows it’s Ye. That right there is already enough

you haven’t posted anything that doesn’t even reek of bias. people know kanye’s tracks in the club because they play the same popular tracks: gold digger, niggas in Paris, stronger etc. you’re acting like this is a major feat.

it’d be like saying “they play one dance and everyone knows it’s drake”.

your post seems to assume that i’m saying kanye is overrated where in actual fact i’m saying kanye won’t ever be looked at as a great icon because of the fact that to most people he comes across more of a nuisance than someone who makes great music.

black people who supported kanye the most especially during the taylor swift incident started going off him once yeezus hit and despite what you guys say, for many in the hip hop community yeezus is a bad/mediocre album especially where plenty of black people are concerned.

you are trying to attribute critical acclaim from journalists and other musicians onto the general audience. just look at where hip hop fans rate kanye nowadays.

it’s not criticism to say kanye doesn’t have as many “classic” albums as you think. it’s reality. for me, he has 7 incredible albums and 3 which are truly impactful.

to many casual listeners, general audience he has several very good albums 1 or 2 classic albums.

You wanna talk about general audience AND black people at the same time? Black crowd is generally very small in comparison to mainstream audiences you can’t have it both ways some of your comments don’t even really add up/are irrelevant considering Ye’s base has been flooded with white people for well over a decade. And you definitely can’t minimize accomplishments cus that’s rare factual evidence in music (which is typically subjective) that always gets looked back on.

It’s like when media and even blacks tried to act like MJ was ruining his legacy in the late 90s and 2000s with the s***cases, controversies and lashing out moments. It was cool and normal to hate him, I know for a fact some felt betrayed, but all that went out the window when he died. The music, accolades (because it’s written history) and memories outlast periods of hate this is not even close to the only example musician wise. Kanye hasn’t experienced every day MJ level hate yet

Gonna have to agree to disagree here because none of us are gonna convince each other of anything. Time never lied so we'll see what the story ends up. I’m pretty confident in the result.

Edit: not comparing MJ to Ye mainstream wise at all so don’t try that response
