You ain’t lying but they shouldn’t have to be leading rap 10+ years later so
True
Watch a lot of interviews of OGs like KRS-One, Special Ed, Rakim, etc, and this is what a lot of them say. Back in the day it was viewed as a decline in hip hop once the g-funk movement took off, not necessarily for its sound but for what it did to hip hop culture and music.
please excuse my ignorance but special ed
I don't bang most 2000s conscious rap lol
Dead Prez, El-P, and M.I.A. were holding it down that decade as far as I'm concerned
It’s funny because I do enjoy that smooth polite stuff because it ages real well.
For example, I know that I’ll be listening to Common’s Be for the rest of my life.
If you really think Drake telling people to kidnap niggas and giving orders like "don't pistol whip him and definitely do not shoot his ass til you get permission", the d***riding has reached your brain and you're too far gone
It is objective fact his goons have beat people up several times lmao. I ain't saying he Jason Bourne or nun but he does in fact have people around him that are not above throwing you in a truck.

Kanye said it himself about Drake in 2018, "He running around like he pac", that's because Drake is the new modern day Pac. He's really running around with a strap on his hip, has killer goons on command, is affiliated with the mafia, and has bodyguards that look like they eat nails in a bowl of blood. He had Kanye fearing for his dear life and kids lives in 2018 when the beef was popping. Drake really is the demon of Calabasas and Hollywood.
We're looking at a real life Godfather Michael Corleone type figure, a gang affiliated Michael Jackson tier pop-star but on a much grander scale than MJ ever was. There's so many stories of Drake's getting rude yutes clapped up or performing mob boss gestures like throat slices, clapping his hands, etc. Drake dines at mafia style restaurants like The Nice Guy/Delilah in Hollywod. And he has enough power to bully superstar celebrities like Tory and Kanye around and make them think twice about their actions.
People love to call Drake soft or sensitive but this further proves that Drake is the demonic, goon employing thug, that Tupac and Biggie were thought to be. Drake is one of the realest threats in the rap game and can get anyone killed if he wishes.
This n***a Drizzy Corleone runs every corner and inch of Canada and claimed it as his own. For the first time in forever we're looking at an invincible GOAT who really lives the stories.

Be is iconic, and I don't wanna make it seem like "smooth" music is like, "less hip hop" either. Plenty of powerful socially conscious music is smooth and subtle too, but a lot of that music is also razor sharp lyrically. Noname for example makes smooth, subtle conscious rap that is still fiery because the raw content of her lyrics are incredible. Common does this as well
The "problem" is when the shaming of one sound or another comes into play, or when music is attempting to come across as deeper than it really is, which was and is a colossal problem with a lot of "smooth" conscious rap and wasn't too much of an issue for the more brash variant of the style

Ask yourself if you’d do this dumb s*** when you’re worth half a billion dollars and people are getting locked up over snitching on themselves in their lyrics.
And remember, this isn’t some illiterate Atlanta hood rat we are talking about. This is drake.

i jigged the order so people didnt recognize it
It should go down in copy pasta history.

"Illiterate Atlanta hood rat"
No offense bro but
Yes! It’s a stereotype that is promoted and rewarded in America.
Unfortunately, because of the internet, this stereotype is broadcasted to a worldwide audience. That causes the stereotype to adopted be people who no real origins to black community or culture. Leading to a b******ization of black culture. Hence the blaccent, Europeans/Australians using aave, etc etc.
It sucks but I love being black so you take the good with the bad
Gotta cut out illiterate hood rat from you vocabulary.
Makes them seem less than for being in a very unfortunate circumstance
Full clip ish/ice say that and vince clarifies that to say these new niggas should just be themselves/doesn’t mean it in a negative way.
Vince just says things in the most frank way as possible tho hence, “you are a b****”
It’s ok to be a b****! It’s ok to give up the jewels when niggas have the drop on you. Nobody will (seriously) judge you. Conway got robbed and niggas joked about it for 1 week. Wish Pop had thought the same
Yeah but him adding that tone "you are a b****" is what it comes down to. No one wants to hear that lol. That's why a lot of dudes resort to that side of rap.
Tyler is an example of someone who doesn't act hard and seems like no one would call him a b**** to his face when going through a city.
It absolutely does do that. Even Vince's advice is backhanded and not super clear. Implying being a secure man is somehow b***h tier. We need to stop putting toxic machoism front and center in environments where young black men are growing and learning.
People both inside and outside the community need to stop stigmatizing and forcing young black males into a certain box, and then chastising them regardless. So what if you like learning? Good on you bro. You like sports also? Cool. People end up being opposite sides of the coin where you either macho af and gangsta or nerd who watches anime. How about we stop stereotyping the young men in our community and let them grow organically and healthily.
I think his point is that is okay to do things that you’d be called a b**** for.
It’s like if you liked wearing flowery shirts and someone called you a p**** for it and you said “well, I’m a p**** then” and kept wearing flowery shirts

He is the wrong person to say that in a media perspective lol. Tyler puts that message across much better. Vince's tone/direction with that convo is still one of looking down on someone lol, but that's with the context that he grew up in a dangerous environment
Same way he talks about just having friends over in this interview
If this was a regular convo in person, no one would think twice about it. Since this is an interviews being able to be seen by the world, I think it has a different impact
yeah ofc. being a Black/Black adjacent/Black presenting man entertainer unfortunately attracts significant hate-fueled violence. once you decide you don’t wanna be bullied, i’m sure the temptation to become ‘full gangster’ is very strong.
take Drake for example… he gets pissed on by an associate of T.I., Diddy beats him up, one of his mentors gets his tour bus shot up, and that’s just the s*** we know about… at a certain point you want to go on the offense, be feared, not constantly be reacting to disrespect that can derail your career or even kill you or a close friend.

We're on the same page. You're looking in the medium term. I think in the long term, people shouldn't be called that if they want to be a good person. To be a low life who doesn't support their community, grow as a person and love people should be what is regarded as being a b***h
