Knew this wouldn’t be praised, but it’s actually hilarious to see yall being put off by the pauses. Thats sad that even an artist like Kendrick with all the good will in the world, and an artist known for taking chances for the sake of making a statement, can’t take a chance and push the boundaries of a format today without it being put down for being less consumer friendly. And this isn’t just for normies but even the music forum nerds have dumbed down to the point where a music video having pauses and not working within their workout playlist is just too far outside the box. Such an interesting post and reaction, because to me this was such a singular and unique use of pauses that comparing it to other instances seems kind of silly. It’s forecasted from the very beginning of the video and the execution was amazing and it fits with the song. Not only does it work great with the intro but it also leads into the parts letting the Luther version play and the elevator music theme. The use of pauses here is extremely intentional and artistic. This is like comparing s***skits to I remember you was conflicted. You can’t make this s*** up!
