Red Album by Game 2011
Does Game not get enough credit for "putting people on" or just showing love to upcomers? Something he did heavily since Doctors Advocate to Jesus Piece. Old school Rappers & brand new school Rappers. Is he lowkey a good curator/talent spotter?
Game was also a huge early supporter of TDE & Odd Future since like 2009 and always hailed them as the next overall West Coast along with YG, Nipsey & Dom Kennedy before anyone really knew them outside of CA. I think the OF connect is the coolest because people dont really think of Odd/Tyler as "West Coast" and they were one of the few West Coast artists that were ignored in the home state for a few years, back when they were "weirdo s***", but Game was always with it & one of the earliest people to shout them out + openly support.
He was also an early supported of Drake too & probably why Drake still rocks with him to this day.
The Game speaks on how he woke up out that coma in 2001
But to answer your question, itās an interesting one. Game constantly shows he has the talent to hang with the best MCs but heās constantly doing corny s*** and lying
And I think the features are an indictment against him, the features and name dropping were a constant criticism of his projects
But then again the Documentary 2.5 was jam packed with features and is up there with his best
Edit: meant to say documentary 2.5, not 1
Thereās a difference between putting people on and wave riding, and this might as well be a beach boys album the way game caught waves
If I had to describe the Game to someone in 3 words it would probably be "Dr Dre intro"

The truth is, the co-signs was always the only thing stopping him from being corny lol
OPās title does not match the topic of the thread. Itās a Game appreciation thread. I think the Game is a decent rapper but he spoils it with all the dumb s*** he comes out with
Itās cool he showed love to all those people. Does he have a talent for it? I have no idea but itās cool that he was all for putting on the west coast but I donāt know if he does that now. I donāt really pay attention to him

To me, wave riding is..no disrespect intended but itās more like what Drake does.
Drake finds artists that he thinks are starting to pop off and he collabs with them in THEIR style and adopts part of it in the things he starts to make. He thinks thatās where the game is headed so he tries to get an early jump on it. And I say no disrespect because itās worked well for him and heās given people careers out of it so how can you knock it?
But Game didnāt do that. Game didnāt put Kendrick on a track that sounded like Section 80 or Drake on a track that sounded like Take Care. Martians v Goblins had a little bit of the Tyler The Creator touch, but even then it was brought into that dark West Coast vibe of the whole album. He very much brought these new school artists into his style rather than trying to latch onto theirs.

Snatch up Rihanna and throw her in front of a f***in' train
Sniff a f***ing unemployment line of cocaine
Tie Lil' B up to a full tank of propane
Swag, now watch him cook
And just stand there and look
Have a bonfire with old Harry Potter books

itās time to have that conversation about Game having one of the best discographies in rap

The Tyler thing was corny as hell, do you not remember his verses on that s*** lol, The Game is actually the king of copying whoever the feature is and he has songs where heās biting the hell out of Kendrick too
he doesnāt get enough credit in general but IMO they were all buzzing around then to hip hop fans at least so it wasnāt that crazy then (imo)
but yeah maybe now thinking back it was forward thinking considering how big most of em got
