EfficacyOn a serious note, I think one of the reasons why this album disappeared from a lot of people's minds that quickly is because, even though thematically he's doing something wildly different than on past projects, musically he really isn't. In a sense, I look at MM&BS as an upgraded version of Damn., both in terms of instrumentation as song structure. The change from GKMC to TPAB to Damn was huge though, on the contrary.
Think about it, Damn also shifted constantly between pop-rap tracks (LOVE, GOD) to more left-field production (ELEMENT) to pretty straightforward bangers (DNA, HUMBLE), just like this new album. Even the way the long, emotional tracks of that album are structured is pretty much similar to Mother I Sober and Auntie Diaries - a few long verses reminiscing about the past real life stories that eventually culminate into a "surprise" conclusion. Thing is, that surprise hits hard if you don't expect it, on those two tracks you could see it coming. Which doesn't mean that those tracks aren't great, they just leave less of an impact than the ones that came before them.
Great take. First time I’ve seen someone articulate this but I’ve been thinking this. Sonically it feels like damn pt2 in a way and I definitely wanted a new idea but idk where he’s supposed to go at a point. I imagine he’s just making s*** he likes to ride around to

I knew everyone wouldn’t be on the same page about the reviews obviously, but to see the exaggerated response on twitter and everywhere else about his album sales are sickening. He put his soul into a project for people to pick apart his worth based on sales. Comparing him to f***ing uzi saying L. Jokes. K dot a legend for real and needs to be treated like one. That is all.
