we laughed at Bieber's streaming instructions but more labels should start moving like that tbh

Eh, instructing fans on how to listen to your music never really works out.

Need some videos. But at the same time I just want him to move on tbh lol

Be patient. You'll get your generic Drake rap album soon enough.

    Massive should be a hit

just shows how bad most people sell in general right now, everybody is doing low numbers by normal standards. people don't have accurate assessments of how much an album will do numbers wise. I think most artists that didn't actually fall off are not really doing much worse it just looks like it

Luke Combs' album only has 11 songs but I expected it to do better than 65k. Maybe he needed more songs.

I hope the same people saying "compare HN to other house albums sales" would also say "compare TPAB sales to other jazz rap album sales"

    Ah ok

    Here's the article they posted:

Like the Energizer Bunny, Rimas’ Bad Bunny just keeps going and is expected to return to #1 on next week’s HITS Top 50. Luke Combs' Growin' Up (River House/Columbia Nashville) and Chris Brown's Breezy (RCA) will be the top new releases. Deluxe versions from Lil Durk and Machine Gun Kelly will springboard their latest releases back up the chart. Vinyl for MGK’s mainstream sellout (Bad Boy/Interscope) also hit stores this week.

    Lil Durk Deluxe (Alamo) 65-75k
Luke Combs (River House/Columbia Nashville) 65-75k
    Chris Brown (RCA) 60-70k
    Givéon (Not So Fast/Epic) 33-38k
    Conan Gray (Republic) 28-33k
Machine Gun Kelly Deluxe + Vinyl (Bad Boy/Interscope) 20-25k

This makes zero sense. Dance is a whole genre of music. There are dozens of artists who drop dance albums every year. Jazz Hip-Hop isn't a genre. Hip-Hop/Rap is the genre so every rap album falls under that.

Drake fans can’t decide if it’s a house album or a dance album, depends on the day

It's labelled a dance album, though. Comparing it with other dance albums isn't even possible because the last 2 dance albums to clear 200k flopped on streaming and one of them used bundles. No one else is dropping a dance album today and clearing 200k.

Will KTT’s R&B messiah Brent do better numbers than Giveon?

if you look at any dance/electronic "subgenre" you'll find one of the most notable traits of the genre is that the main artist is typically the producer. it's inherently not as marketable as other genres as you don't have a superstar doing vocals on every track

so this is more comparable to a Dua Lipa who makes dance-pop than some house album by someone like Andy C

if you don't think there are multiple sub-genres within primary genres because Apple music organizes things for consumer convenience then I don't know what to tell you

does Apple Music have a "house" label or a "trap" label?
