i'm pretty sure releasing a song and saying in an IG post: "LNCL the first single off my next album: CLB", is part of the rollout
that was an entirely different album though
What
a rollout builds hype but building hype doesn't mean it's a rollout
Wdym? Clb is clb
the clb that was gonna drop in 2020 is a different album than what we got

I don’t like when people say this man you not in the studio with the artist
Man Bad Bunny dominating fr
Drake making a world sounds album is him competing with Bad Bunny: he sees what is the #1 type of music in the world Rn, and obviously Drake can’t speak Spanish, so he doing the closest thing he can

As America Spanish-speaking population grows Bad Bunny and his legacy and lore are going to grow bigger and deeper
He’s going to be anointed as the one broke it down for Hispanics
niggas going extinct white folks going extinct
I respect Bad Bunny so much because he actually speaks English but only records in Spanish to show solidarity he could’ve pandered like BTS but his integrity is why his fanbase so strong
The fact Jimmy Cooks, an "album cut" as yall have called it, is the number one song out now invalidates ANY excuses about it being a surprise release or lack of promo being reason for weak sales. EVERYONE knows the albums out they just ain't f***ing with it like that cuz it's mid lmao
IYRT was 100% surprise release and had the world in a frenzy

I respect this take. "World sounds" and hip hop are my favorite genres
200k+ opening weeks by hip-hop acts this decade:
Drake — Certified Lover Boy: 613k
Juice WRLD — Legends Never Die: 497k (bundles)
Kanye West — Donda: 309k
Kendrick Lamar — Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers: 295k
Lil Uzi Vert — Eternal Atake: 288k
J. Cole — The Off-Season: 282k
Eminem — Music to Be Murdered By: 279k (bundles)
Pop Smoke — Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon: 251k (bundles)
Drake — Dark Lane Demo Tapes: 223k
Future — I Never Liked You: 222k
Logic — No Pressure: 221k (bundles)
Drake — Honestly, Nevermind: 204k
And someone here sees 223k with a surprise side project as a "flop"
Music industry dead in the water like Pinocchio
I thought we all established this? Surprise releases do less but album was ass lol.
no yall did not establish s*** lol, op still coping talking bout the album amazing
IYRT: surprise drop
Views: major rollout
More Life: quick rollout
Scorpion: major rollout
DLDT: surprise
CLB: major rollout
Depends how you define the rollout of More Life tbh. I'm pretty sure it was announced late 2016, eventually got a March date that got pushed back, etc. So it was a few months of a rollout at least
I thought it was gonna do like 40k tbh. It doubled my projections that's a massive W for the boy.
21 stimulus saved drake from flopping out this dimension
Not really. DLDT/CLB/HN weren't drawn-out releases. They all dropped without any prior singles save for DLDT where he tacked on Toosie Slide. You can even go back further than that: IYRTITL dropped with 0 prior singles. Same for WATTBA. More Life had Fake Love on it but 21 of its 22 tracks were brand new. He's been gearing up to dropping projects like this for years now.
CLB had a cinematic trailer showcasing all his album eras and s*** like months/a year before the album and set the stage for hype, then the loverboy title+haircut was put on full display to get the memes going crazy
how can you say this wit a straight face lol
