Both selling less in their 2nd week than Bunny in his 8th week.
Oh and before we get the dance album excuse, Bunny selling more than CLB and Scorpion in their 8th weeks too.
You're forgetting the part where those albums opened with 732k and 613k respectively. Bad Bunny opened with less than 274k. Scorpion had crossed 1M units in it's second week. It took Bad Bunny about 6 weeks to do that.
It's the 21 vs. 25 argument all over again. The bigger your debut, the harder it is to sustain massive numbers over an extended period of time. 21 opened with 352k units and went on to sell 14M units over an extended period of time. 25 opened with 3.48M units and it had cooled off after 12 weeks because most of its units had been moved already.
Morgan Wallen opened with similar numbers to Bad Bunny and he also posted multiple 100k weeks because it's easier to do that when you don't have a massive debut week.
So what’s the count for Weeknd songs randomly getting blown up?
Die For You
Lost In The Fire
I Was Never There
Is There Someone Else
Starboy (?)

Call out my name going crazy

are you seriously still batting for this nigga in here?
and it's ultra convenient for critic scores all of the sudden to not matter
almost like this obsession with sales has a sort of agenda or narrative that accompanies it and isn't just a hobby that people happen to be into

yeah they shouldn't and sales shouldn't either is kind of the whole point
i don't get why this mentality for critics isn't extended to sales

2. Sales = plays which are important to every artist

Important for Stans to subtly equate with quality when their fav artist is making TikTok bait

Why are listens important for an artist? You slow in the head bro?

you do realize there's artists that do not put their s*** on streaming services right? and i can easily make an argument that good reviews from critics are semi-important to artists who aren't mainstream or notable within the public eye

Sure but Bunny isn’t (wasn’t*) anywhere near the level of popularity as Drake or Adele for the respective albums you mentioned, him selling 100K+ 8 weeks in a row as a relatively new artist is a massive massive W (like Adele with 21)

This back and forth started with Drake, who does put his music on streaming services.
This thread is obviously for mainstream artists that are able to chart. You're trying for some gotcha moment, but you look like a clown 😬

okay, but you tried to fan out a blanket for "artists" as if everyone that makes music cares about high sales, you could've just been more specific or kep it at drake, naturally you're braindead and don't have much going on up there im starting to gather, so i forgive you
you didn't address anything i said about critics in general because you know i have a point

Any artist signed to a major label cares about sales. Found the thread you should be posting in

yeah you're definitely not a very intelligent person. bless your soul and hopefully you never procreate for the sake of humanity
Who isn’t putting their s*** on streaming lol
there's some dudes that like to not put their s*** on streaming so they're purposefully obscure. (sadhugold x splook is one of many examples) it's pretty annoying and hipster-y 'cause you gotta literally pirate all of their work and upload it (or hell, they force you to buy it) sometimes certain projects don't get put on streaming due to fear of samples being recognized and reported
regardless, i think it's pretty stupid to throw out critic scores when they're way more important and impactful for people who don't chart or aren't in the common public's mind while hypocritically making sure that everyone knows who's selling what and clowning/worshipping them for it (in addition to this being somehow an indictment on the artist themselves for "flopping" or not selling as well as other artists do) if you're gonna be super infatuated with exposure at least be consistent.

I have never once in my life said critic scores matter.

kendrick be like
Sales will always matter for music, how the albums are structured (or even the fact that they are albums) and the type of songs and artists on them are always influenced by sales even the ones that dont try to get high sales if there is a major behind. At the same time if an album you love flops or doesnt get high sales that never should affect your enjoyment of the album lol
Also the sales of the project before tends to affect the budget and type of the new album which of course affects the music.
