Just want to add, I think after Take Care (a classic) dropped hiphop purists and media felt like Drake shouldn't be the top rapper.

They were looking for someone else to take the mantle and Kendrick delivered a rap classic. So they were trying to push him to that spot. And he got close a couple of times imo. GKMC - NWTS and in 2017.

It's mostly cause Take Care was a classic album in sound

Lyrically Drake wasn't well developed yet. As a teenager i loved it, but nowadays i feel it's pretty bland lyrically. Take Care was still seen as a game changing album cause of the sound and now also cause of the influence it has. NWTS the way better album, just like GKMC which is much better lyrically

I love the songs and so do a lot other rap fans?

That you don't like it doesnt mean others don't. Or that he doesnt sell as much as you expected, doesn't mean it is automatically not that great

Drake stans hitting a new low itt

Just remembered Cole did 282K with Off-season. Scenes if this Kendrick album will be somewhere close to that.

We Cry Together and Purple Hearts are the tracks i don't like at all. But i can judge something objectively instead of hating endlessly for some weird reason

    Grow up lil one

Bro completely forgot about this angle

The amount of ppl KTT have been claiming are bigger than Drake is crazy lmao. And as soon as we remind them of this they launch scathing attacks lol

Stop comparing him to “anyone” lmao. Eminem is the biggest artist in hip hop from a sales perspective. And the last time he dropped a classic was in 2002. The longevity is insane. Timeless, timeless music. Your papi could never, lmao.

If the debate is that Drake is the biggest rapper, was anyone really saying otherwise? I thought that was obvious. He's the biggest rapper of the last decade easily, and won't be dethroned for a minute.

But Aubrey is not the best. I love him and he's amazing at making easily digestible stuff that's pleasing to the ear and feeds IG/TikTok captions. But mans has been on cruise control for years now. Numbers are cool to bring up, but they alone can't be your shield if you wanna talk about quality.

Some other artists have kept doing insane numbers tho, not everyone doing 50% less.

Except for Drake and Adele, who also sell less than back in the day. Who?

KTT has always tried to say another rapper or another artist is as big or even bigger than Drake in many years. The Weeknd after Blinding Lights, Kendrick after Damn, Post Malone, Justin Bieber, Bad Bunny etc.

And sales do equal quality. People wouldn't listen if it's bad? I am not talking about the first 1-4 weeks since people are just listening to hear it for the first time, but if an album is selling like crazy almost a year later without a hit carrying the sales then it's obviously and without any doubt due to the album being very good and enjoyable.

A surprise mixtape filled with leaks and throwaway songs did 223K - amazing. Astonishing.

For comparison, The 10/10, instant classic according to the so-called critics Dawn FM did 148K.

This is what Invasion of Privacy was up against:

    Swimming by Mac Miller,
    Victory Lap by Nipsey Hussle,
    Daytona by Pusha T and
    Astroworld by Travis Scott

Idk what universe you live it, but there’s no reason her album was considered better than ANY of these great protects

True. It sold more tho, so isn't that how Drake stans gauge music?
