Then nobody took his crown. Drake took the sales crown with views when he finally outsold Em and tha carter 3-4 Wayne.

MMLP sold 1.7 million first week, Views did 1 million. Eminem Show sold 1.3 million in its second week.

Drake just won artist of the decade we can all agree he took the crown. Lil baby not getting 2020’s artist of the decade, drake already leading over him in the 2020’s.

I’m not arguing that but Eminem’s peak was in a different decade. I was just commenting on you stating that he took the crown when he outsold Eminem.

You also can’t compare sales before streaming to streaming era. Selling 1M in 2016 is basically selling 2M in 2000.

    Views wasnt streaming era

It was shortly before the streaming era started, same with TLOP

Drake’s 2010s run is GOAT. Some of the best music ever made in the genre. Nobody really even argues that. After that period though,

Either way 850k no bundles pure in 2016 is just as impressive as 1.7M in 2000.

He leading rappers in the 2020’s too tho. The most hits and sales.

If we use Google Trends as one measure, Lil Wayne’s hype fell over 100% between 2014 and 2018 and C5 dropping in 2018 wasn’t even enough to make a dent up. It would have certainly sold more in 2014.

Google trends ≠ people buying and listening to the music. ianahb2 did like 213k with more google searches or whatever.

More people checking for/searching for an artist is a decent predictor of popularity and does translate to ultimate sales. It’s just one measure though I agree.

I’m just saying those kinds of numbers aren’t attainable today at all in the streaming era. Views 1 million is not more impressive than Em’s 1.7 million. Especially because rap only became exponentially more popular since the 2000s

A 5 year wait is IANAHB2 to C5 and it did boost sales

Not my fault you did some sort of mental gymnastics and skipped a whole studio album to try to make your point

Only cause the carter series will always do well. These extended breaks aren’t the career boosters y’all making it seem like. We just saw Roddy get tricked out his spot for taking a year off. Hell Drake Stan’s favorite thing to say when people said Drake should take a break years ago was don’t leave while you hot, look what happened to mase. Now all of a sudden a 5 year break is supposed to elevate someone to new highs. Y’all are the most wishy washy fanbase lol the least y’all can do is keep it consistent.

  • Jul 6, 2022

Either way nobody has drake crown until they outsell his next rap album. We know nobody will come close to CLB. CLB will be the highest first week in hip hop for the 2020’s decade unless drake top it or they change the rules again.

No one in music has sold over 1M first week without bundles since views. It’s very impressive. Views with bundles would’ve sold 1.5M+

Kanye sold 600k first weeek and had 4 number 1’s in the 2010’s?
We 2 years in and drake already blew Kanye 2010’s numbers outta the water

Everything is relative to era and the top selling artist in the era. Drake doesn’t magically get the highest sales because he happened to drop after Adele.
