But acts like post make albums with longevity in mind. It’s mostly a rapper thing to be THIS fixated on first week. The record with Doja in particular, seemed like it would have legs from the moment I heard it

ppl itt tend to forget that what really matters are the lifetime sales, first week is just a fun thing to predict because all the uncertainty and high numbers but in the end what matters to the label is the money made in the long run
I’m not saying fw sales don’t matter because they ofc do especially for artists whose sales are frontloaded but sometimes u see some posts which just put too much weight into them

I think TikTok is definitely the true answer here. Sure it helps that he’s doing stadiums but irl I don’t think people care all that much outside of the die hard fans.
The constant stream of show TikToks (especially the ones with the laptop closing, those are so cool) plus his songs randomly blowing up on TikTok are causing tons of folks to check out his back catalogue.
BBTM, Starboy, MDM, AH & Dawn FM have each been pulling steady 3M+ streams every day.
