a drake rnb album would do more numbers than a rap album but ya'll aint ready for that discussion yet
Drake lacks probably one of the most important ingredients to making good R&B music - the ability to sing. So no, this wouldn't work for him
Sad to say that people aren’t digesting full albums anymore, the most impactful form of promo now is getting material trending on tik tok.
If there isn’t a trending single beforehand the album will likely preform poorly.
My GOAT
the highlights being top 50 without starboy and AH singles being counted for it... wow

That's not how it works. Highlights takes the streams from those singles

after hours and starboy are charting tho. the streams are going to the og album this week.

Probably from the other songs since Highlights is the top selling album

yeah songs like call out my name, the hills, and often also got a boost after the tour so they are keeping it high
I’m wondering what’s bringing Starboy up since Starboy, IFIC, and Die For You are all on Highlights

no starboy, IFIC, and DFY are being counted to the og album this week. cuz starboy(album) is selling more pure than the highlights
An R&B album might not sell as much as a rap album but the people actually do rock with R&B drake. An R&B album is something I’ve been seeing some fans want for years now. An album of fire and desires would go crazy.
Lil baby can’t dethrone drake until he outsells CLB. CLB gonna end up the biggest first week for a rap album in 2020’s unless they change the rules or drake get into a beef and have proper promo and outsell CLB.
Lil Baby doesn’t have to do that lol. Lil Baby is up now, the culture crowned him as big dawg. Drake might be bigger overall but as far as the culture goes, Baby is that dude right now.

Wish he'd expand his vocal range but an RnB Drake album would be sublime

Everyone would call it boring if he did 14 tracks of Jaded and Liability

And yet Jaded and Jungle s*** on most modern rnb. Crazy

Anyone that would call that album boring is exposing themselves for having s*** taste tbh. R&B Drake is top tier. I feel if he wanted to, he could make magic and I guess sprinkle something for the casual fans on there. He made a house album, so I’m not ruling out the possibility of an rb album some day

Those are great songs, but he can't do enough with his voice for an entire project. He'd display even less vocal range than Brent Faiyaz over the course of an album

I never seen a era of rap when the big dawg that ran the culture couldn’t sell 400k+ first week besides the 80’s.

People are really only okay with non-rap Drake in small doses, mostly because that's how he's brought up his listenership base. On every Drake release, you mostly get him rapping with a few songs of him singing sprinkled in-between. There's of course several melodic rap songs as well but he mostly raps.
That's why Honestly, Nevermind was so jarring. His singing on the album is poor on like 2 songs. On the rest of the album, I feel like he uses his voice very well to compliment the production but it's also mostly production he isn't used to singing over so you can hear him trying to find the right pocket on some of those songs. Sometimes it worked and sometimes, it didn't but overall, it's not nearly as a bad an album vocally as people are suggesting, especially since everyone knows Drake's singing range. I don't know who in their right mind expected him to sound like Whitney Houston over those beats.
As for the R&B Drake album, people only want that because they have so many R&B Drake songs they've come to love. That's a lot more in his wheelhouse so I feel like he'd deliver a lot better if he did an entire album of just R&B records. It'd probably be a walk in the park for him.

A lot of r&b dudes and females couldn’t sing in the 90’s and 00’s and still went platinum. Lead dude from 112 was on the same level of drake singing wise.
