Racists lost
We won
So all these artists that waited 5 years to drop an album flopped
None of them flopped lol
Assuming you’re using a bit of nuance and context within this current market.
So we really need to re-evaluate how we look at first week charts from now on because it’s clear there’s been a paradigm shift.
He’s really the one holding the keys at this point.
So all these artists that waited 5 years to drop an album flopped
Charts have changed.
People judging these albums with 2016 eyes.
Nobody likes an artist because they sell a lot lol
Have you seen this thread?
Drake stans base their own personality off CLB sales.
Its really interesting cause rappers do around those numbers w/o physicals (Ye, Kenny) or way more (Drizzy). Imagine if they had physicals ready
Seems to me that Bey and her fanbase didnt make the transition to streaming properly (or a lot of non-rap artists in general)
It’s generally understood that older artist/real veterens (and I’m not talking who YALL call legends ..Cole, Kendrick and Drake) especially the Beyonce batch of late 90s stars are stronger in physical/traditional sales. They’re used to selling actual records.
Streaming isn’t even 8 years old yet.
Beyonce understood her data. Her fan base buys album, so the demand was there.. truthfully she sold out everything and could potentially have released more during preorder to drive her figures into the 400k+ region
Most of these Gen Z artists (even the younger millennials) don’t release physicals because they CAN’T. Beyonce has always been a pure sales dominant artist. Not to mention she joined spotify in 2018.. she definitely joined the party late

He's not saying artist but it's definitely been said in here that numbers = people love the music. This was before the 7th Studio Dance Album with no promo tho
Saying numbers = people love the music isn’t the same as implying that people love the music BECAUSE of the numbers, which is what people are implying itt even tho they’ve never seen anyone say this. (The only people making this claim are the same niggas who are always seen hating by the way, Im noticing a trend)

They don't love the music because of the numbers, but they latch onto certain artists because of their numbers rather than the music itself. People aren't going to outright say "I'm a fan of ____ because they sell a lot" but it's implied when they always bring up sales and charts when there's discussions about artists and music
Someone in here was saying they enjoy music because they hear other people playing it just a few pages ago
@Josk2 i would agree w you but a dude literally came itt and said he only likes music if he sees that other people enjoy it and wished for “generic music to come back”

LMAO that nigga a drone
thank god
Well, she would have dropped a better dance album than Beyoncé and Drake combined.
People needed a Summer album after the pandemic and Bad Bunny delivered.
The others dropped dance albums for some reason.
Wow so w/o the physicals ready first week Beys album wouldve actually flopped like crazy
I mean physicals are a legitimate way to sell music. There is no compelling reason to say that physicals are an L tactic unless someone has Stan motives to.
These are the most current streaming demographics that I could find:

Artists who target the younger demographics will naturally have higher streaming numbers (but even there its barely a majority 60/40)
Artists who have older fanbases are more likely to do better with physicals.

Wernt you against people buying singles...

You’re thinking of someone else, don’t remember even having a conversation about singles

not with her horrible cursive singing that's for sure

Age is one thing. Genre is also very important imo. Look at Kanye's streaming numbers and The College Dropout came out in 2004. Look at Em, Wayne. And maybe even Jay Z will do better streaming wise but we don't know yet
Without those physical sales the streaming numbers for Beyonce are very low. Not necessarily has to do w her fanbase being oldheads. And if that's the case, she didn't make that transition that well compared to multiple rappers. That was basically the only thing i said. Doesnt mean the album is bad or so. I don't judge music based on numbers. It does say something bout popularity in 2022 tho

I see they’re still coping instead of streaming

I never said this lol why yall so desperate to twist my words so much
I said I'll enjoy it MORE if I see others outside enjoying it too, music is more of a social thing for me lately, these days when I'm alone 70% of the time I'd rather watch a YouTube video/tv series/podcast instead of listen to music

so basically you don't have your own taste in music, got it
