I've explained what I mean by "breakout year." It's not the year you get famous or even see some success — it's the year you get established as a mainstream staple. Drake was successful in 2009/2010 but it wasn't until Take Care in 2011/2012 that he got established.

Take Ed Sheeran. His first two album eras were huge but 2017 was different. That's when people knew he'd be here for a long time.

Same with Post Malone. He had hits in 2015/2016/2017 but it wasn't until beerbongs and bentleys that he truly arrived.

Even Doja Cat. She was famous in 2018 and had hits in 2019/2020 but it wasn't until 2021 with Planet Her that she got established.

That's what I mean. Bad Bunny wasn't in any "biggest in the world" conversations until this year and there's a reason why. By 2018/2019, his two biggest hits were with Cardi B & Drake. I've already said it. No one had him as the biggest in 2018/2019/2020/2021 and that's because there were several other acts who were clearly bigger.

He truly arrived this year. Anyone disputing that is being disingenuous.
