Why not just report stream numbers. Converting it into “sales” is so pointless

People aren’t selling units unless it’s physical vinyls or itunes sales

Wait. If X sells "100k" now publications say "X has sold 100k albums in his career. The industry cant have them saying "X has sold 100 albums"

They should drop it and as U said focus on the streams because it's the reality of the situation

It's charted for more weeks than Take Care, but Take Care has moved way more units.

They also report streams lol. We're in the SPS era now (sales plus streams) so the 'units' being reported include BOTH sales and streams. In some cases, acts move a ton of pure sales and very little streams and in some other cases, it's vice-versa. Either way, they're all considered 'units.'

    No, it hasn’t.

    GKMC 3.6 mil copies
    Take Care 3.4 mil copies

Either way, it’s ok to be happy for Kendrick and Drake. You know that right?

13 weeks at #1 for a Reggaeton album. I never would have imagined. The genre has come a long way.

GKMC needs to be re certified. Maybe I could be way off, but it’s gotta be hovering around 6 or 7X platinum by now?

I thought I saw somewhere that DAMN. was at 6 mil US. Kendrick is due for an update.

It was last updated 3x Platinum in 2018. It's likely moved around 5M+ units right now.

I didn't even see them quote me because I have them blocked but yeah. Take Care will be eligible for a Diamond certification by 2025/2026. Scorpion/Views will be eligible for Diamond certifications by then as well.

Yup and ML will be 7-8x platinum by 2025, which is insane for a side project. I believe ML was around 4M in 2019. A lot of people don’t realize how big ML was, 500k first week while missing 2 days of sales. It would’ve did over 600k first week with a proper release. I don’t even think ML has any music videos. S*** would go diamond if he care about it after it dropped.

Bad Bunny had to compete with Drake, Beyoncé, Kendrick, Harry Styles, Post Malone, YB, and all these K Pop bands to get that record.

See what happens when Drake doesn't drop a rap album? He's been making rap look good for 13+ years now.

  • Oct 10, 2022

If Rihanna, Taylor Swift, Bruno Mars or Drake released a similar compilation of their biggest hits, it'd do the same thing, maybe even better.
