I didn’t say top tier but I mean to a certain degree people aren’t going to listen to s*** that is outright bad

yeah I mean the highest selling albums are pretty much always good listens

but they are usually not the BEST music out there

Like an actual playlist of songs. No structure just a random collection of songs with influence around the world. Similar to his ovo radio show

ima be entirely honest and say I can’t see the difference between that and CLB - if there’s some sort of story Drake is tryna tell with the sequencing of that album then maybe I’m wrong but I can’t see it

This can be used to describe any one of his projects post-IYRTITL

That's why he's trying to call it a playlist because he has a bunch of people in a space, hanging out.... He's so aware of what everybody else is doing musically that he likes to introduce new music and new artists to the rest of the world.”

    From his producers

And tbf u dont hear people criticize drake albums saying it lacks cohesion and sound like playlists ?

If an artist has 4 studio albums with a distinct formula and approach that went into creating those albums, then releases a “mixtape” with the exact same formula and approach that went into those albums, it’s literally just an album disguised as a mixtape

But the formula on more life has not been done prior to it by him. All his albums prior have certain cohesion to it till more life even views with the seasons

I don't understand why the ML album/playlist distinction matters tho?

When I'm ranking Drake's discography, I personally include it even though I wouldn't count DLDT or Care Package. Because the music was made specifically for the project.

But why are you bringing up?

Gonna be honest I didn't expect KDot stans and/or Drake haters to go this crazy because of the latest sales information we got.

This really tells me that some of them were actually believing he would outperform or come very close to CLB and are now tight as hell.

All the years of s*** talking artists and numbers of people who actually dropped music and provided their fans with content during the pandemic.

KDot himself said it, some of you niggas really need to humble yourself. You are making Kendrick look worse, when he had the biggest launch week of the year. Going crazy because he isn't Drake level is just nuts.

he might do drake numbers tho

  • May 18, 2022

That drop off overnight on Apple Music is crazy, wonder if Spotify will follow

  • Pinhead

Kanye’s Yeezus sold more than Kendrick’s Yeezus

As it should. Yeezus was on CD when most of us still had CD players in our cars. They are going by “streaming numbers” now.

It's a shame cause I'm a big Drake fan but I really wanted Kendrick to do Drake numbers or outsell him. I think Drake needs a humbling himself. He's gonna see CLB doing almost double Kendrick and think there's not much to improve on.

on the other hand i'm a big fan of Kendrick & maybe this'll push him to make a IYRTITL type project to get numbers.

Don't think Drake is changing what he is doing for anyone. No matter what Kendrick, Cole or ever does he is successful in his lane.

This niggas just closed up on a 500m deal because of what he delivered the last couple years. He isnt gonna switch things up.

Kendrick just got out of his slave deal and is gonna be able to really shine on its own with PGLang. So it's weird seeing the focus on downplaying Drake's numbers instead of being happy for KDot coming back with a strong album.

It's like niggas can only feed off and live of negative vibes.

How so? everyone knows how competitive Kendrick is & how he sees Drake/Cole as proper competition.

I think he would just cause he delayed CLB for a year because he wanted to wait for Kendrick & Cole to drop & see what happens to the game. He does care a lot about what they do & how it effects things. Kendrick & Drake especially are very competitive artists, I dunno how anyone can ignore that
