You actually lose money pushing physicals in today's market. The cost of production is higher than it used to be because there's way fewer productions plants than before and in the label charges artists heavily for the physicals they make.

If you drop the physicals and they don't move units, that's more of a loss to you because the label will still take their cut while you lose out on the profits the physicals were meant to bring in.

Most artists who push physicals do so to ensure they huge first week numbers. There's definitely profit to be made from physicals but only if you're someone like Taylor Swift who is doing over 1M units from physicals. You really don't start seeing the gains from that format till you move enough units and not everyone can manage that.

Drake's been making about $20M off streaming globally every year since 2016. He's good lol.

Like 2 songs off the album are doing really well. That's enough to carry it.

The important part is what he makes the label and they earn way more from streams than what the pay their artists
