People will pay $300 just to post an Insta story at a Drake concert but would be too embarrassed to wear a shirt?

    What?

    What?

I’m just saying his logic doesn’t make sense. If people were embarrassed to be associated with Drake then his tour wouldn’t be selling like it is

she also had say so go #1 in 2020. in 2021 she rereleased a tape from 09 and did good numbers. also whole lotta money remix was a top 20 for nicki in 2021.
queen i always hated on queen and yah it was less successful than her other albums but at the same time u got rake it up, motorsport, other hit features that she pushed there

ur right about pop and hip hop. but audiences are still fickle regardless. what happened to the Roxanne guy or Mood 24kgoldn or a lot of artists who fizzled out

and if ur talking about established hit makers, well, only time can tell. i stand on my point that u can be on fire one day and fall off tragically quick the next. i dont think any of the named artists are likely to, but to go back to the original tweet. my point stands.

and to talk some more s***, all of adeles albums sound the same and her last album was a sharp decline from the 3m first week 25 did. leave the door open blocked levitating from going #1 but levitating was the #1 song of 2021 on the year end billboard. so dua really won

hip hop was/is also the biggest genre, so me using hip hop artists who also achieved #1s isnt too farfetched. maybe theyre not as established as bruno/adele/gaga but even then. audiences r fickle!

Ugh I don't like debating on the phone lol big up to Nicki for what the tweet was highlighting.

I thought you meant people were paying $300 if they wanted to post Insta stories at his concert lol.

Drake was selling out his arena tours from 2012-2019 and he toured every year in that period so there's clearly always been a huge demand to see him live, especially in the US/Europe. Him going 4 years without touring was only gonna increase that demand.

The tour is also limited in terms of how many people can see him per city so him pricing his tickets that high to make as much profit as possible was smart on his behalf.

Throw in how much positive reception the tour has been getting online and I bet many people who initially put off getting tickets ended up copping just to see what all the hype was about.

    Drake bundles wouldn’t work

His fans aren’t the type to buy vinyls and the thought of wearing Drake merch is embarrassing for most. Resellers aren’t attracted to Drake branded merchandise either.

Nah that CLB merch sold like hotcakes

"Drake fans don't buy vinyls" because he hasn't mass produced them

If he seized vinyl production across the factories like Adele did with 30 it'd get very real

Especially if he sold them at a profit loss for $5 like Travis lmao

i remember CLB CDs for sale and then him pullin it back 😭

He just sold a book with one sentence per page

His webstore sells out limited vinyl runs of his previous albums in 30 seconds

And HNVM merch did very well on his web store

Just because he hasn't done them yall think it wouldn't work but it'd be an extra 100k sales at the very least

Vinyls would definitely work but vinyls aren’t really merch imo

It would help a little but it wouldn’t be a major boost like it is for artists like Taylor & Travis. I’d say it would be an extra 50-60K max.

Drake hasn’t cultivated the type of fanbase to buy merch or physical copies in bulk first week, and to his credit he doesn’t really need to. He’s dominated the industry solely through streaming for the past seven years.

His last three releases have done a combined 70K in pure sales first week. His fans are mostly just concerned with hearing the album when it releases and none of that extra s***.

Do you know none of his 3 last albums dropped CDs or vinyls first week lol
There's literally only digital sales ever available

CLB had CDs available for the first week, and he only did 46K in pure sales.

They were cancelled weeks after, but that’s right the shipping rules were in effect by then. For some reason I thought that happened later.

Point still stands though, I don’t think he’d do any more than an extra 75K with bundles and physicals available ready to ship

I’m pretty sure most of the DrakeRelated products are super limited and mostly bought up by bots.

The vinyl especially, there’s no way there were anymore than 5K-10K available with how quickly they sold out, and a lot of the copies were on eBay the same day for exuberant prices showing that they were mostly bought up by resellers’ bots

What makes someone more likely to buy Travis merch than Drake merch then? If Drake has around 2x more people interested in listening to his music why do you think they wouldn't care to buy merch if it was available?

doesn't make sense to me cause Drake seems to have a lot more hardcore fans than Travis
