taylor is really about to do a million first week again with a rerecording of an album that sold a million first week almost a decade ago lol.

She’s doing 2 Milli FW easy with this one.

Wouldn’t be shocked if she did around 2 mil first week tbh. The tour momentum, 1989 being arguably the main album we’ve been waiting to hear re-recorded, the numbers she’s been putting up lately…

1.7-2 mil would not surprise me at all

Then what happened with The Weeknd? He sold 275k pure with After Hours with digital albums + physical cds + bundles.

2 years later he only sold 14k with Dawn FM which was all digital albums. You said before that stans do it to support the artist, so where were they for him for Dawn FM? why didn't they buy the digital albums en masse to support him and make him do well?

3 weeks after Dawn FM he released the CDs and he only sold 33k of them in the first week they were available. Where were those "stans" that apparently buy everything then? they were apparently around buying everything for AH but then 2 years later they've all disappeared? doesn't add up

whats even more insane is that Dawn FM was in a sales battle with Gunna's album yet his apparent stans still didn't do s*** to help that situaton

Physicals didn’t count for Dawn first week because they didn’t ship first week. Plus there were no fan-pack rules.

I’m very certain that when his next album releases he’s clearing 500K easily because the label is not gonna let him drop again without physicals being ready to ship immediately

But when they shipped, he had only sold 33k of them. That's my point. If the vast majority of that 275k with AH were from stans like you're saying, why didn't they obsess over Dawn FM too so he could outsell Gunna?

Did he just like.. randomly lose all his stans or something?

That was CDs only, and it was the third week of the album being out.

Vinyl for that album didn’t release until April.

He didn’t randomly lose anything, he just didn’t play by the new rules Billboard has instituted and he paid the price for it

Yeah. But that again is entirely my point as you said before that only stans buy bundles/cds/vinyls etc, meanwhile The Weeknd seems to have shown that's not true at all. Cause those "stans" didn't care at all about Dawn FM, which basically makes them not stans

I just explained to you why that album sold so little first week and you’re being purposefully obtuse

How is it being obtuse? You said a few pages back that stans are obsessed w/ the artist doing well and will buy up literally anything so the artist does well. But that didn't happen with Dawn FM

Even if a million people bought physicals of Dawn FM first week, they wouldn’t have counted towards the first week sales because they didn’t ship until weeks + months later.

There were no bundles, there were no fan-packs, Billboard didn’t allow either to count at that time.

If you look at literally any of his studio albums post-Kiss Land, literally 60%+ of his first week numbers have always come from pure sales. The one outlier is Dawn FM, which is also the one album that was released in a time when Billboard wasn’t counting physicals until they shipped and also wasn’t allowing any type of bundle/fan-packs to be counted.

You don’t see that as a clear causation?

I get that but there's two things you've said in the last few pages

    1) Only stans buy bundles/cds/vinyls en masse
    2) Stans buy anything an artist puts out & are obsessed with making sure the artist does well

AH sold 270k bundles/pure, so according to you that means The Weeknd has a huge amount of stans

But then Dawn FM only sold 13k pure albums fw, all of which were digital.

And then the CDs came out after 3 weeks and he sold 37k week 1 and then 4k week 2. Why didn't the "stans" that supported AH also buy everything Dawn FM related?

It seems to me that the vast majority of the people who purchased AH cds/vinyls/bundles did it because they were getting something out of it, but with Dawn FM there was nothing to get out of it except a CD. So they didn't support it. So they were never stans in the first place, they were just fans buying stuff they like

This is just the first of 100 pre-orders she will have for this album

It will do 2 million first week. Probably even more if she pulls everything out

Third week numbers will always be lower than first week numbers no matter who the artist is and no matter what the situation is.

But before you said stans will buy anything that the artist puts their name on lmao.. it's like you're constantly moving the goalposts to suit your narrative

And as I’ve explained three times already, even if a billion people bought Dawn FM day one, none of the sales would’ve counted because the copies did not ship first week.

    Like what is not clicking

Dawn FM cds were actually put up for preorder a few days before the album came out, and they were even signed by The Weeknd himself. Yet he still only sold 37k of them.

How can you know that and still think the majority of those AH 270k pure sales were from stans man, it makes no sense. By your literal own definition of "stan", all of them would have bought that CD
