Yall really trying to downplay MJ lol. Thriller sold more than drakes discography combined probably. There are levels to this s***. Taylor swift only one close to MJ in modern era.

Taylor isn't even close to Drake let alone MJ. They never had bundles and multiple remixes like her. They're in their own league

When are we going to start the discussion that Bad Bunny not top 3 artists out rn? He flopped with this album and hasn't had any hits since early last year, only reasons he gets brought into the discussions is cause of the worldwide tour w stadium... BUT Weeknd and Taylor doing same thing AND they got hits that remain in the top 15

Those basic pop songs flew off the charts.

People born 20 years after his prime trying to convince others his hits had staying power

Drake is one of only 3 acts in Hot 100 history to have at least 3 songs spend 10+ weeks at #1. The other two are Boyz II Men and Mariah Carey.

Drake and Mariah Carey are the only 2 acts in Hot 100 history to have at least 5 songs spend 8+ weeks at #1. In comparison, Bruno Mars and Taylor Swift each only have 1 song that's done that. Rihanna has done that with only 2 songs. The Weeknd has done that with 0 songs. Michael Jackson has done that with 0 songs. Trying to drag Drake's hits for a lack of longevity is a foolish exercise. By all metrics, he's been by far the most dominant artist on the Hot 100 in the past 20 years and already owns most of the Hot 100 all-time records.

His songs may not have longevity at #1 on the Hot 100 this decade but that's the story for most #1s this decade. 65 songs have reached #1 this decade. Out of those 65, 36 of them have spent only 1 week at #1. An additional 8 songs have spent only 2 weeks at #1. An additional 5 songs have spent only 3 weeks at #1. That's 49/65 songs that have reached #1 this decade spending no more than 3 weeks at #1. Only 5 songs have spent up to 10 weeks at #1 this decade.

Drake has spent more weeks in the top 10 this decade than any other artist. He's the last person you should be trying to drag with regards to hits, especially considering how he has managed to score all his hits with 0 pop radio support like most other acts whose songs have longevity on the charts enjoy.

He was the biggest act in the US last year according to Billboard (he was ranked as the #1 act and had the #1 best-performing album of the year) and many people on here insisted he was the biggest thing ever but now, they have all the excuses for why an album which marked a return to the style of music he made for all his albums except the one he dropped last year, underperformed. He's even known as the "King of Latin Trap" because that's the style of music most of his music covers but now they're using the fact that his latest album is mostly latin trap as the reason why it underperformed.

This is a guy who sold out two tours in the US last year (one being an arena tour and the other being a stadium tour), a guy who had all the momentum going into this year, but many of them have ducked this thread since I posted his album's debut numbers yesterday because they don't have any excuses to give for that performance, especially since it's happening just a year after his massive commercial breakthrough year.

I won't count him out because artists have to underperform with 2 consecutive albums for me to count them out and he's only done so with 1 album so far but I'm definitely looking out for what his next album does.

You think they she has 3 albums that are each certified diamond twice? Bruh if she sold that well this would've even be a debate but I think you're conflating sales + streams when we're talking about pure sales if we're comparing them to MJ who didn't have streaming

Niggas were here crying saying Travis was "doing it for the fans" with the $5 vinyls when I said he only did that fraud-ass s*** to boost his numbers on the charts

Utopia has been out for 3 months now and people still haven't received their vinyls and they probably never will but yeah, he totally sold his vinyls at $5 a pop (the lowest possible figure for it to still count towards the charts) "for the fans" :jordanlaff3:

Actually only refunded a handful of fraudulent international vinyl sales

International doesn't count for Billboard chart anyway. So it had no impact on the numbers

He sold hundreds of thousands of vinyls, which counted towards the charts without them being shipped/delivered to most of the people who ordered them — that's a FACT. Travis Scott fans have been complaining for weeks now and most of them are based in the US but nigga is trying to bring up international sales to act like there's been no wrongdoing lmao.

Billboard tracks physical musical sales only once items are shipped. Look it up. Units wouldn’t have counted without shipping. Once again you are misinformed

Hundreds of thousands were shipped but a few KTT trolls who are likely international or fraudulent orders must be indicative of a conspiracy …

Maybe stick to topics you have a better grasp on like Taylor Swift x Travis Kelce or TikTok trends?

We're not citing KTT trolls, my dude. Go on Twitter to the Travis Scott community page, go on the Travis Scott subreddit, go on the Travis Scott discord — people are all complaining. Except you think everyone complaining is a troll, I don't know what to tell you.

Even if those items were all shipped from the warehouse, they never made it to the hands of many people who ordered them and that's also the fault of Travis/his team because free shipping and the $5 price tag were all those things they used to get fans to buy those vinyls in large amounts.

The fact remains that Travis sold those vinyls at $5 a pop (which is the lowest vinyls can be sold to still count towards the Billboard 200) to boost his album on the charts for the first 4 weeks. By the fifth week, the vinyls had run out and his numbers dropped drastically.

I said worldwide, bruh.. and no, the difference between them this year has became A LOT wider: T Swift moved 30 million units worldwide this year alone, your data is from 2022 which doesnt include it. Even billboard has reported that she moved 12 million units in the US alone this year already.

Not even MJ has a single year where he sold 30M+ units, the max he did was 23M or so and that was the record at the time.

Ok. Let’s ignore rest of the world for a minute. Domestically, T-Swift moved 13M units this year; the biggest sales year ever in Billboard history - and will likely finish at 16M.
