I’m not even the biggest Drake fan like that but it’s wild the lengths y’all try to go to discredit the boy

No one’s discrediting him, I’m just being realistic and logical
350K is a big number. I don’t think an artist is going from 10K in digital downloads to 350K with some vinyl and CDs available. That’s ridiculous.
depends how much he markets it. 350k was a little high for sure, but 100k seems reasonable.
My nigga, For All The Dogs did 10K in digital downloads, and Midnights did 160K. It’s two completely different fanbases. Drake fans aren’t concerned with buying Drake music anymore
Yeah because midnights was up for sale on itunes and on taylors site

Yeah I’m conceding 100K. I said 200K max. It’s the people saying he’d do near a million in pure sales that I’m disagreeing with.

You’re not tbh. He’s reaching a million or close to it easily with nocta bundles lol
Yeah because midnights was up for sale on itunes and on taylors site
CLB, Honestly, Nevermind, Her Loss, and For All The Dogs were all on iTunes and none of them cleared even 50K in digital downloads first week.

No he’s not
You sound like the people on here who were saying For All The Dogs was gonna do 600K+ first week, completely delusional

it's an interesting discussion. I think he could with more proper rollouts and marketing. make his fans care about nocta. make them care about vinyl. they may be impervious to that though. my two very close friends are very very large drake fans. one didnt go to his tour, the other found a free ticket. for whatever reason, a segment of his fan base is very price sensitive lol. they do not care about the extra curriculars at all.

I think it’s partly a reason in why he has more overall fans than anybody else, because he has the largest number of casual fans in his fanbase. Like no matter who you know and what type of music they listen to, I guarantee there’s a good handful of Drake songs that they enjoy and maybe even a project or two. His music is just so ubiquitous at this point, but that also means he doesn’t have the same rabid fans as someone like Taylor does

Most of taylors sales come from her personal site
Itunes is a dead application at this point in time

yup, and i feel even most of his stans arent rabid though lmao. i wonder if that is drake's own doing. he's rapped about it plenty. doesn't care about the bundles or vinyl's, just the music lol. i wonder if that influence has seeped into his own fanbase, that they feel validated that the only real way to support their guy is to stream his music OD.
they're rabid in their own way though and that way is claiming the man can do no wrong musically
Take away the bundles and sales accounted from taylors site and that 1989 re relese is only touching 300k
No he’s not
You sound like the people on here who were saying For All The Dogs was gonna do 600K+ first week, completely delusional
You’re underrating his fanbase I’m telling you. They just aren’t the type to be online and loud but they support damn near everything he does. You don’t run music for 15 years without having that type of fanbase

CLB was available for digital download as well when it dropped, I vividly remember that because I was waiting for him to drop a vinyl.

Streams are the main source of music consumption in this era

There’s two types of support though. Active support and passive support.
Drake definitely has fans who actively support him by buying physicals, going to shows, and wearing merch. I’m not saying that doesn’t exist. What I’m saying is that population of Drake fans don’t make up the majority of Drake’s fanbase in the same way that the population of active Taylor Swift supporters make up the majority of Taylor Swift’s fanbase.

Okay and first week sales tracks how many times an album was sold in its’ first week, not how many times it was consumed
Take away entire formats and methods of listening to music and she sells less!
The mental gymnastics they’ve reached at this point are somewhere between hilarious and pathetic
Okay and first week sales tracks how many times an album was sold in its’ first week, not how many times it was consumed
Ok and drake actively has not released his previous albums in the other source. So your argument makes no sense
I don’t understand how you can discredit real people spending real money to support an artist. That’s all ANY artist wants.

And I’m telling you they do lol. He has flagship stores around the world for his clothing brand.
