You'll never hear me deny that Drake isn't the biggest rapper in the world rn.
I was just saying that FATD didn't stay number 1 for many weeks either.

It was #1 for 2 weeks and has spent 20 consecutive weeks in the top 10. Let's see how long Vultures lasts in the top 10.

Nope. Factually, it's still Drake.
Utopia just stayed number 1 for longer than FATD.

It had a higher first week too
I am just at the point where I want Drake to stop catering for huge sales lol

In no way would I ever imply that FATD isn't bigger than Vultures when Drake's still the biggest rapper out while Kanye has the WOAT image/PR of any music act rn and had Apple f***ing with him.
I was just saying that FATD didn't stay number 1 for a long time. Utopia was pretty much the only rap album last year that stayed number 1 for numerous weeks.

Bundles
Honestly, do second week+ #1s even matter that much when itβs basically entirely dependent on who else drops those weeks.
I mean if Kanye got outsold by Yeat, that would be a massive L
Insano. The song with the "Ye Cosby" lines is charting this high lol

ya its entirely dependent on who was dropping around your album
but even someone like drake has to dodge taylor now tbh (we saw it with Her Loss being pushed because of it, drake admits it on one of the songs on FATD cant remember which one though)
Went from "will sell 30K", "won't break 100k", "nobody will care"
to
"numbers aren't as big as Drake's", "lets see how long it lasts on charts", "song is only blowing up because of Carti"
at the end of the day Vultures is a commercial success considering what it is, a collab album with Ye at his lowest point of commercial reach and TY who also doesnt have a huge commercial reach (but he's always quality), and factor in collab albums traditionally do not sell well, the album was taken off streaming for like half a day, not showing up on new releases, etc
even Yeat selling 70k first week is a win for him, yall gotta get people selling 200-300k first week out of your heads for new rappers debuting these days, its not happening anymore, if u peeped the thread in music sxn last week about billboard releasing streaming numbers based on genres and their trends, u can literally see rap streaming flying off a cliff in terms of relevance
the days of the new school debuting selling 150k+ minimum like uzi/carti/yb/xxx were all doing is done, the new break down for people who aren't stuck in 2016-2019 era is:
(NOT INCLUDING BUNDLES):
established rappers with a decaying fanbase: 30-60k
New rappers with a bit of juice debuting: 50-100k
Established rappers with a fanbase (uzi/21/carti/etc): 125-175k
Top 5 (drake/kenny/cole/trav/kanye): 275k-400k
Facts.
Nobody's really consistent when it comes to the sales talk.
Sales only matter when you're fav is winning
We just take turns in this thread like it's a WWE belt lol
It started as a question pertaining to a delusional tweet from 1 Kendrick fan online .
But I get it. We've been through this before and this thread had evolved from that we can just forget about it now.
It's all good.

the proof is like a giant billboard on here lol
