it counts but its still a weak #1

You have to look at these things from a relative viewpoint. If the entire industry is low, and it’s the highest selling song, it’s not a weak #1

It’s like saying Kareem was a weak player because he played in arguably the worst decade of basketball (the 70s)

    Very dumb argument to make

You notice how 5 of the bottom 6 were released within the past six months?

This wasn’t the flex you thought it was

Also this. His airplay is borderline zero. That’s another reason why the points are so low

  • Mar 10, 2024

Also I genuinely can’t believe we have reached the point that we’re using POINTS to determine how big a song was or wasn’t

In ten years nobody is gonna say “well yeah but Carnival only had 242 points”

People remember what sold the most, what streamed the most, and what charted the highest

The entire industry is doing less numbers right now. You have to be relative when having these convos.

It’s like saying Larry Bird is a worse three point shooter than Draymond Green because Draymond has more all time threes made than him.

Carnival is #1 on every major streaming platform right now, it’s the first hip-hop song of the decade to do that

    Yeah, no.

If a song was doing double the units a few years back it's the bigger hit.

Incorrect, the entire industry was doing double the units a few years back. You judge a song’s performance relative to the state of the industry when it was released.

For example, Nice For What debuted with 60 million streams, but Laugh Now Cry Later debuted with 69 million.

Is anyone really about to argue that Laugh Now Cry Later is the bigger song?

Context really means absolutely nothing to some of y’all huh

    And?

People consuming less now just means the hits were bigger.

That’s not how that works whatsoever

Some of y’all really live by “men lie, women lie, numbers don’t” but that’s one of the biggest misconceptions ever spoken. Numbers lie all the time

It’s ridiculous that you’re using points to make your argument. The song is #1 on all three major streaming platforms in the country, first rap song to do that this decade. Don’t talk about no damn points man

So it’s Kanye’s fault that he released an album when the entire industry is down? As it has been for the past year?

Sales & streams & chart arguments make sense, using points to say one song is bigger than another is absolutely ridiculous

Your point? He still helps Drake get hits

No, he doesn't. Drake can get hits all by himself without any help and has done so all throughout his career. 21 only got his first solo hit this year. He has 11 less top 10 hits without Drake.

Drake hasn’t had a solo hit since 2018 let’s talk about it

Anyways, glad to see rap continuing its reign at #1 on the Hot 100 this year. Doesn't really matter who it's by.
