How is it not true man? Do you realize how hard it is for an unknown artist to chart on the Hot 100?
Megastars have a platform where anything they drop is automatically getting broadcasted to a large audience.
The reason why virtually every Drake single since 2018 debuts in the Top 3 is because he’s Drake, not because every single song is a hit
Idk if this is a alt account or you're actually new here but Drake stans are defensive because ktt has a history of changing the rules specifically for him and the way you talk is similar to how it's always been
"This Drake song flopped/wasn't successful" but give that same song to Sampha or Bryson and everyone would be saying it's a comeback single if it preformed the exact same. Rod Wave got songs that barely crack the top 40 and users will come out the woodwork to call it a "hit"
If you have a certain way of looking at hits that's fine but to say a #1 like Slime You Out isn't a hit is a stretch. That was literally the most listened to song in the country that week and had a good Billboard run overall
^I meant to respond to your other post but I'm leaving it up @roselei

Because it’s contextual man that’s what I’m trying to say
A Drake song in 2024 that debuts at #1 and then is out the Top 10 within three weeks is not a hit.
Sampha/Bryson/Rod Wave do not have a platform on the level of Drake, so it is virtually impossible for them to debut within the Top 3 on the Hot 100. Any song they have that reaches the Top 20 will be a slow burn, making it a hit.
It’s not just Drake either, this is the case for any superstar level artist. The Scotts by Travis Scott is not a hit just because it debuted at #1, that s*** was gone within weeks. Same for Franchise.
If you are a superstar level artist, the chances of your new single debuting within the Top 10 on the Hot 100 are 99% higher than the chances of any non-superstar artist doing that. Superstars’ hits in the streaming era are defined by longevity, not chart position
It got kinda boring after playing it for 200 times tho
It's the perfect rager song at an arena show.
also congrats to ye, hate him or love him he produced a real #1 hit and a successful collab album, not no bullshit 99 cent vinyls and all the other gimmicks
can only give respect to that
i don’t care about “impact” man i care if it sounds good
Mood bro
If you want your avi posted just say that instead of constantly trolling. Now run along and enjoy the rest of your day![]()
All the names you could pick and you choose to suck off 2 artists same time

A hit is not about just charting on the hot 100. Like I would not consider Omerta a hit.
But this is why I am asking you to define a hit how many weeks and/or units in a time frame is a hit?

As I keep saying, it depends on the artist and the situation

For Drake... which is who we are talking about.

its not just about where a song debuts I am agreeing with you on that.
But to me any song that does a million units in a year or less is a hit. Just not a mega hit.

A Drake hit in 2024 is defined by longevity, as with any other superstar near his level.
If the song debuts within the Top 10 and is off the chart within 1-3 months that s*** is not a hit for a superstar

So slime you out is a hit since it charted 14 weeks? and first person shooter is a hit for charting 20 and going recurrent? 🗿

14 weeks is three months and two weeks, not a hit. It’s Drake and SZA, if it was really a hit it would still be on the charts the same way RBD is still on the chart.
First Person Shooter, sure, but it’s a minor hit compared to IDGAF and Rich Baby Daddy

How is FPS a minor hit compared to IDGAF?
FPS charted same length, sold the same, and peaked higher 😭
Then both outsold RBD which is mainly getting carried by radio right now

You're considering all these other variables but not giving fair consideration for others like the fact that Drake took a risk with an R&B lead single. You're comparing it to other pop, country, rap songs when if you want to get into specifics let's see what other R&B tracks had a better run than that in the past 5 years. I'd go as far as to say it's the biggest hit in the genre since No Guidance

It peaked higher but fell faster. IDGAF is also currently still pulling in more daily streams than FPS

Snooze is literally right there
Creepin’ is right there
Slime You Out is nowhere near the biggest R&B hit since 2019

FPS week 20 - 56
IDGAF week 20 - 83
this is week 21 where they go recurrent looks like fps is outselling
🤔
