dear aprilbecause whether its a reissue or rerecording its still an old album coming out again, if the dictionary definition makes you feel better go ahead. its not as if every fan cares about the intricacies, its still literally the same album except the added vault tracks but lets not act as if thats the vast reason why its doing numbers
the Taylor Swift re-recordings are doing numbers because she's Taylor Swift, and her fans are rabidly supporting her throughout her unique situation with Big Machine and Scooter.
standard reissues that happen for big album anniversaries like Thriller 40 recently, or the Ariana album as you've mentioned, aren't expected to "do numbers" in the same way. it's fan service. i don't even get the argument.
So Far Gone is so far out of the conversation, it was just an online-exclusive mixtape made available commercially for the first time lol i'm just tryna break down the differences
