This is how you know clowns here delusion af.

I have spent thousands in OVO merch over time and own no Travis merch but Travis has the merch game/demand locked down. Outside of Ye (also Berner but that’s a different story) no one sells merch like Travis. He has curated that image. He may be able to make more money from Merch than from Music. Pharrell is another example. He wasn’t bigger than Jay or even Timbaland in his prime but his curated an image that makes people want to buy his s*** more than bigger artists.

Guys like Drake doesn’t have that pull and image. People like him for his music but he ain’t a fashion icon/trendsetter. Those things can to be mutually exclusive.

You're saying I'm delusional whilst saying Travis could make more from merch than music lmao, come on bro get real. The merch game is absolutely tiny compared to the music money. I absolutely guarantee Travis makes at least 10x more from JUST touring than he does merch.

You guys are acting like Travis has the merch game locked like Ye in 2016-2018, but it's not even half or even a 3rd of what Ye did back then.

Trav isn't a fashion icon/trendsetter at all, I doubt you can even name what fashion s*** he's even known for. He sells merch because his audience is mostly streetwear kids that wanna wear a random Travis tee/hoodie, that isn't being a fashion icon

can't believe people in here are trying to pretend Trav is known for merch/seen as a fashion icon lol

57m followers & only 75k merch sales. that's 0.13% of his audience that bought a tee from a so called "fashion trendsetter/icon"

What other "fashion icons" we supposed to be comparing him to then?

Cuz Rocky and mentally ill Ye doing way worse numbers than him in 2024

Yeah my point being his fans were never dedicated in the first place if they aren't swarming back for a new album after cancelling his retirement

Imagine this happened with a streaming artist lol, it'd just never happen

Does Logic not prove this wrong?

No Pressure in 2020 sold 172k pure in 2020 first week (221k total)
Vinyl Days just 2 years later sold 26k total

Where did all these "dedicated fans" disappear to in just 2 years ? They were so dedicated that 90% of them disappeared in 2 years?

ive never seen a drop that insane with streaming metrics

This is why No Pressure did the numbers it did (everyone except Drake used bundles to boost their numbers from 2018-2020). It wasn't because it was his "final" album:

Logic lands his fifth No. 1 on Billboard’s Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart as No Pressure arrives in the summit on the list dated Aug. 8. The LP, which the rapper has said is his final album, starts with 221,000 equivalent album units earned in the week ending July 30, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.

Of that figure, 172,000 units derive in album sales (supported by a wide offering of merchandise/album bundles), 1,000 are in track-equivalent album units, while the remaining 48,000 come from streaming-equivalent album units, equaling 65.16 million on-demand streams of the album’s songs. The starting sum marks his second-best week for an album, behind only the 248,000-unit entrance of Everybody in 2017.

I love how people literally argue that streaming numbers are worth more than album sales lol how the f*** can you say listening to a song for free on Spotify carries more weight than spending literal money on the music (the bundle s*** was explained very well by other users but I guess you guys read what you wanna read)

It's also quite convenient to talk about streams when you're discussing a project released 10 years ago lol of course people are not gonna stream it as much as new music.

I really don't see how people can hate on DBR selling more than 200k after 10 years. If any other artist did this people would be talking about longevity, classic status and s*** but here we go again with Drake stans I guess lol you guys are truly a gift from God

Exactly. Yet people on here will tell you Logic can do 170k of those units yet Drake can't do 70k lmao.

Who the f*** is hating on DBR selling 200k? You're making s*** up.

And yes. Listening to an album for 75 hours should carry more weight than spending $5 on one. Next? There's a reason first week album sales have decreased by a huge amount, and it's all because streaming is undervalued

Oh yeah my bad I didn't think disputing the 200k number for 7 pages trying to say stuff about bundles without even knowing what was being sold on the website was a way to give props to the project. Totally on me.

And no, streaming songs for x amount of time isn't a better indicator than spending real money because streams are the most fakeable stat in this world. And you people talk about bundles lol that's so delusional

Ehh physical album sales have been proven to be faked many times over, you don't know what you're talking about unfortunately

Trav was having issues selling out arenas, so he had to decrease the ticket prices a few days before a few of the shows

Lainey’s album deserved more love but 49k is solid while competing in the same week as Sabrina
