I thought you said streams don't matter, now they do when they suit ur narrative

Imagine Eminem/Mariah putting out an album (dawn fm) & then 2 singles (ditf/timeless) 2 years later & it all doing this badly in their main market (US) back in their peaks. It never would have happened. Not sure why you keep coping

If you wanna just admit that the stars of today are not even half of what stars were pre 2010 then I'll get it tbh, but until you guys understand how different The Weeknd's success is compared to actual stars from 20 years ago, i'm not dropping this lol.

this even goes for Taylor Swift to a lesser degree btw. Taylor has not put out a single song that everyone knows in like 10 years.

the last time we saw 2000s type dominance from an artist was Drake with Views & then Scorpion just 2 years later

So The Weeknd wasn’t dominant in 2020 and 2021

Okay man keep changing the narrative

AH was a dominant album, the issue is Dawn FM was a major flop, my argument this whole time is you can't be an artist that big yet have a proper studio album do that badly.

Hilarious that an album getting almost 3 million daily streams almost three years post-release is considered a "flop"

    Did it underperform? Absolutely.

But calling it a flop is a massive stretch

Yup & at least that is easily excusable since it was a surprise drop & a completely different style of music

Man If any of those 80s/90s/00s superstars released an album with no #1s, everyone would be calling it a flop, lets be real

If we wanna just face the facts that standards have changed, that's fine, but you gotta accept it

Beyonce didn't have a single lead #1 between Sasha Fierce and Renaissance. Were all of her 2010s albums flops?

If you release an album which is literally less than a third popular of your previous one, how isn't that a flop?

If this new album does Dawn FM numbers then it's safe to say AH was just a complete outlier & not representative of The Weeknd's popularity at all

After Hours's popularity was boosted by the ridiculous success of Blinding Lights.

That is a once-in-a-career type song, no artist would be able to replicate its' success

  • Oct 7, 2024

The dude has multiple Diamond records, sells out stadiums on a regular, but apparently After Hours wasn't representative of his success
